Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Evidently, the crime of "Breaking and Entering" was quite common in Ancient times. The irony is that this crime increased as people moved from the nomadic life, where people lived in tents, to city life, where people lived in houses. While wealth in the desert was measured in livestock, wealth in the city was measured in things.

Jesus describes the evil one as a "Thief". The thief not only steals "things", he also destroys our sense of well-being. We feel VIOLATED when we have been robbed. The security and sanctity of our home have been breached. Theft can take many forms; fraud, deceit, scams, and outright violent robbery. It is a path of destruction and death. Is it any wonder that one of the Ten Commandments is "Thou Shalt Not Steal"?
