Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.
But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:
"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.
As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...
Ever take a good look at what moslems are commanded to do by their “god?”
Their’s is not the same god as the Christian God. It’s more like lucifer masquarading as an angel of light.
Our Blessed Mother pays the bills.
Mary does not “pays (sic) the bills.”
Jesus paid the price for once and always while on the cross when He said “It is finished.”
Can we all at least agree on THIS?
>> “Can we all at least agree on THIS?” <<
.
Don’t hold your breath!
The last three popes have called Mary “Co-Redeemer.”
.
PR moves....
I think that was said with levity, no?
“Jews do not worship multiple gods like catholics do”
Ground control to major tom. Catholics were the first Christians and Catholics still call the shots. Without the Catholic Church there would be no Bible, there would be no Western Civilization. Now don’t you think it’s about time you showed some respect?
Billy Graham is liked by Catholics because he’s never put them down. Billy Graham has nothing in common with the haters on FR.
No; the reason is that she's DEAD.
Goody for them.
May as well VENERATE John the Baptist or Elizabeth or Moses for all the good it'll do ya.
You just canNOT admit that your chosen religion has created these FABLES about Mary; can you?
I, for one, DISRESPECT Rome's made up fiction.
No more than the rest of us - no more than me or you...
True; he's NOT a Catholic.
“May as well VENERATE John the Baptist or Elizabeth or Moses for all the good it’ll do ya”
Grand prize winner! Darwin Award 2014!
Billy Graham might not be Catholic, but he baptised his children as babies and said JP2 was the greatest moral authority of the 20th Century.
There IS much in Scripture about the condition of the world in the end times and recognizing them as Jesus said we should makes us MORE aware of how little time we have to win souls to Christ, And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:28).
ALL genuine Christians should be proclaiming the Gospel of the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ until we die or He comes back to bring us home. One day, this world will be no more and God will create a NEW heaven and earth wherein righteousness dwells - for eternity.
The REAL problem is that some FRoman Catholics know that the true church is ONLY all the redeemed from every tongue, nation and people and it is their own pride AND stubbornness that prevents them from admitting that here. They refuse to acknowledge that it is faith IN Jesus Christ and not in a "church" (i.e., their own version of it) that places one into Christ's body, His bride.
When Peter was asked, "What must I do to be saved?", he answered, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.". Jesus said, when asked what one must do to do the works of God, said, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent."
Perhaps when the head representatives of the Catholic church stop saying stuff like, "If Mary is not your Mother, you are an orphan!" or "Outside the Catholic church there is no salvation." or "We declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff.", non-Catholic Christians won't have to discuss such matters anymore. In the meantime, we will continue to earnestly contend for the faith against those who would pervert the gospel to a lost and dying world - just as our Lord and Savior told us to.
