Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.
But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:
"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.
As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal. Discuss the message, not the messenger.
Great and thorough job, Elsie!

A courtesy ping to the person entioned is good FR etiquette. You may also want to correct his/her name.
Oops
A courtesy ping to the person mentioned is good FR etiquette.
Would “good FR etiquette” also include apologizing for false accusations of mind reading?
“I believe that the virgin conceived and bore a Son and that His name was Immanuel Matt 1:23
The correct passage of Matthew 1:23 is a virgin shall conceive, not ‘the”.
“It is entirely Scriptural, the Church has lasted for nearly 2000 years and understood, in its time, far more about scripture than you realize.”
Your second sentence is lacking in cohesion and secondly if it is true they have understood far more about Scripture than anyone realizes, why have they not followed it and instead followed man’s doctrine?
Jesus turns away folks? By proxy? By a roman pope?
And now...by Tweet, as much says no one can get to the Christ but by Mary.
First to Mary to get to Jesus, to then to be adopted by her with there being scarcely any mention (was there any?) of adoption by the Creator, all this bad theology regardless of what the NT text says to the contrary...
Oh, how they seem to despise the scriptures, almost as much as the principle of Sola Scriptura (scripture as supreme rule & measure of faith, upon which all sound doctrines must rely --- and be not refuted, either!)
Oh well, Jesus loves us, one and all. Being silly, doesn’t disqualify any or one, soul. It is fun to talk about- who Our Father loves most. Good song, love Louie!
Matthew 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Matthew 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones.
Reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean .lol.
Yes He does, and how do I know this? By performing mind reading? No Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Good deal. Kinda sounds like a phrase, though. Not much real meaning intended.
Well it is the words to the song, Jesus Loves Me, the rest is ‘Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is Strong. Yes Jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me the Bible tells me so.’ Sometimes splithoof wants us to not know or sense that fact. It’s a good one to remember. And I was volleying right off from what you said about God loving everyone.
I’ve heard it sung, in so many places- without the breath of God, that to hear/read it on the internet, is my loss. Thank You, She_is_my_hero.
Welcome!
So sorry to have left you hanging. The question isn't whether is it enough according to the teachings of the Catholic Church, but is it enough for you since your the one who made a proclamation of condemnation. So, is it enough? Is my status as a baptized Christian who believes in Jesus as Lord and Savior enough to override your condemnation of me because you don't share my views?
