Pope Francis, "If Mary is not your Mother, you are an orphan!"

Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.

But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:

"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.

As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...

Seriously? You think former Roman Catholics left because they couldn't FAST before Communion as kids? You must be joking. Tell me, how long do you fast before Mass? Could you go from dinner Saturday evening until Sunday Mass without any food?

I can't speak for anyone else, but, I left because I heard the TRUE gospel, not the accursed one Paul warned us about. God led me out and I've never looked back. I know I have eternal life - right now. Do you?

Considering what I read here I'm thankfull to God I never went in to start with! I opened the bible as an atheist with zero religious education and soon had the thoughts and intents of my heart exposed for what they were (and sad to say,are)*ALL* glory and honor to God for His Word!

If you believe “these forums” are “Catholic bash fests” perhaps you should take it up with management.

This is an “open” thread in the Religion Forum meaning posters may argue for or against deities, beliefs, religious authorities, etc. The debate can become contentious. Thick skin is required.

If you are not comfortable with that kind of debate, then ignore the “open” RF threads and instead read and post to “caucus” “ecumenical” “prayer” or “devotional” tagged RF threads.

I am taking it up with management and those involved in the bashing, hence my remarks to you.. are you not management? Not the first rodeo with this here on FR. Look at the number of posts by Catholic bashers vs. Catholics who try to defend their faith. Pitiful.. .you are quite near to having no Catholics responding (getting slapped down) and presenting themselves to be bashed. How horrible will it be when there is no one left to respond to those who post their uneducated gibberish? Really sad. God knows what HE wants to do for those who come here...I trust Him for all eyes that see...and as much those who turn away.
