Getting the body is not necessary for the Venerable Fulton Sheen to become a Saint, it is a formality and does seem proper however if this keeps up, I wish somehow, they could just carry out the Beatification process.

The approved Miracle is told at this link: http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/news/2014/06/18/vatican-theologians-approve-fulton-sheen-miracle/

Excerpt:

“As a normal part of the sainthood process, the theologians met to consider whether or not the promoters of Archbishop Sheen’s cause demonstrated that the proposed miracle — the survival of a child delivered stillborn – occurred after prayers for the intercession of Archbishop Sheen alone.

In March, a seven-member board of physicians convoked by the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints agreed that there was no natural explanation for why the child’s heart started beating over an hour after his birth.

The child, James Fulton Engstrom, is now three years old and developing normally. His mother, Bonnie Engstrom, said she had no precomposed prayer asking for help from Archbishop Sheen. “I just kept repeating his name over and over in my head: Fulton Sheen, Fulton Sheen, Fulton Sheen,” said Ms Engstrom.”

This is 100%, totally, completely, absolutely the decision of Dolan.

Dolan hates Sheen, and Dolan is a liar.

I appreciate that Archbishop Sheen requested to be buried in NY and respecting his wishes is understandable, but for the cause of the universal Church calling him to sainthood.

THAT is a different matter that dear Bishop Sheen would humbly be obedient to. Sainthood is what we hope for and seek. To be received into the process for such a declaration, Bishop Sheen would not have refused to his Church.

NY has been found possessive of the remains while having rejected the cause and the process. They have broken a contract.

Cardinal Dolan could end this reversal of an oral contract without a scene and a scandal, if he wants to. His silence is deafening.

Frankly, I respect the pushback NY is getting, based on this report. The will of Cardinal Dolan has stretched more than a few bounds already, and now this?

Very embarrassing for the Church, especially in the US.

Check EWTN Saturday evenings at 6:00 PM for “Life is worth living,” - rebroadcasts of Bishop Sheen’s television program aired in the 1950’s and early 60’s.

Based on this ongoing assurance, Bishop Jenky wrote to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in early 2005 asking for the body to be transferred to Peoria. They did not in any way forbid the transfer of the body but simply indicated that it was not the appropriate time. The Congregation indicated that “the transfer was not opportune at this time because the Diocesan inquiry had just been started in the Diocese of Peoria.” With this inquiry complete and a miracle being attributed to Sheen, now is an appropriate time.

The Peoria statement goes from this part in 2005 to the recent letter from NY in 2014. I would love to know what the CCS said/communicated about the cause during those 9 years.
