The Hail Mary of a Protestant
http://www.abouttherosary.com ^ | September 3, 2014 | Robbe Lyn Sebesta

A little six-year-old Protestant boy had often heard his Catholic companions reciting the prayer “Hail Mary.” He liked it so much that he copied it, memorized it and would recite it every day. “Look, Mommy, what a beautiful prayer,” he said to his mother one day.

“Never again say it,” answered the mother. “It is a superstitious prayer of Catholics who adore idols and think Mary a goddess. After all, she is a woman like any other. Come on, take this Bible and read it. It contains everything that we are bound to do and have to do.” From that day on the little boy discontinued his daily “Hail Mary” and gave himself more time to reading the Bible instead. One day, while reading the Gospel, he came across the passage about the Annunciation of the Angel to Our Lady. Full of joy, the little boy ran to his mother and said: “Mommy, I have found the ‘Hail Mary’ in the Bible which says: ‘Hail full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women.’ Why do you call it a superstitious prayer?”

On another occasion he found that beautiful Salutation of St. Elizabeth to the Virgin Mary and the wonderful canticle MAGNIFICAT in which Mary foretold that “the generations would call her blessed.” He said no more about it to his mother but started to recite the “Hail Mary” every day as before. He felt pleasure in addressing those charming words to the Mother of Jesus, our Savior.

When he was fourteen, he one day heard a discussion on Our Lady among the members of his family. Every one said that Mary was a common woman like any other woman. The boy, after listening to their erroneous reasoning could not bear it any longer, and full of indignation, he interrupted them, saying:

“Mary is not like any other children of Adam, stained with sin. No! The Angel called her FULL OF GRACE AND BLESSED AMONGST WOMEN. Mary is the Mother of Jesus Christ and consequently Mother of God. There is no higher dignity to which a creature can be raised. The Gospel says that the generations will proclaim her blessed and you are trying to despise her and look down on her. Your spirit is not the spirit of the Gospel or of the Bible which you proclaim to be the foundation of the Christian religion.”

So deep was the impression which the boy’s talk had made that his mother many times cried out sorrowfully: “Oh my God! I fear that this son of mine will one day join the Catholic religion, the religion of Popes!” And indeed, not very long afterwards, having made a serious study of both Protestantism and Catholicism, the boy found the latter to be the only true religion and embraced it and became one of its most ardent apostles.

Some time after his conversion, he met his married sister who rebuked him and said indignantly: “You little know how much I love my children. Should any one of them desire to become a Catholic, I would sooner pierce his heart with a dagger than allow him to embrace the religion of the Popes!”

Her anger and temper were as furious as those of St. Paul before his conversion. However, she would change her ways, just as St. Paul did on his way to Damascus. It so happened that one of her sons fell dangerously ill and the doctors gave up hope of recovery. Her brother then approached her and spoke to her affectionately, saying: “My dear sister, you naturally wish to have your child cured. Very well, then, do what I ask you to do. Follow me, let us pray one ‘Hail Mary’ and promise God that, if your son recovers his health, you would seriously study the Catholic doctrine, and should you come to the conclusion that Catholicism is the only true religion, you would embrace it no matter what the sacrifices may be.”

His sister was somewhat reluctant at the beginning, but as she wished for her son’s recovery, she accepted her brother’s proposal and recited the “Hail Mary” together with him. The next day her son was completely cured. The mother fulfilled her promise and she studied the Catholic doctrine. After long preparation she received Baptism together with her whole family, thanking her brother for being an apostle to her.

The story was related during a sermon given by the Rev. Fr. Tuckwell. “Brethren,” he went on and said, “the boy who became a Catholic and converted his sister to Catholicism dedicated his whole life to the service of God. He is the priest who is speaking to you now! What I am I owe to Our Lady. You, too, my dear brethren, be entirely dedicated also to Our Lady and never let a day pass without saying the beautiful prayer, ‘Hail Mary’, and your Rosary. Ask her to enlighten the minds of Protestants who are separated from the true Church of Christ founded on the Rock (Peter) and ‘against whom the gates of hell shall never prevail.’”

You mean that Bible that Catholics compiled and canonized? Without the Catholic Church you would know nothing of Jesus Christ. Facts are facts.

You and others have tried this before, but which means nothing unless it is based upon certain presuppositions. Thus the typically unanswered questions,

Is the RC argument that an assuredly (if conditionally) infallible magisterium is essential for determination and assurance of Truth (including writings and men being of God) and to fulfill promises of Divine presence, providence of Truth, and preservation of faith, and authority. (Jn. 14:16,26; 15:26; 16:13; Mt. 16:18; Lk. 10:16)?

And that being the historical instruments and stewards of Divine revelation (oral and written) means that such is that assuredly infallible magisterium? Thus those who dissent from the latter are in rebellion to God?

...and she would have needed a Savior (Luke 1:46-47).

I think you mean would NOT here.

Painter; why do you wish to leave out the FACT the Mary proclaimed:

And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior...

You were baptised a Catholic and you’ll leave this world a Catholic. Now it still might be a Catholic who does not practice the faith, but a Catholic nevertheless.

Which profits you nothing if not dying with saving faith as a regenerate believer, which few RCs and have, and with most being like Ted Kennedy RCs, though many RCs deny that such are Catholic.

The Catholic church claims that ALL of what they call the early church fathers, were Catholic.

They make them Catholic retroactively and then say, *See they were all Catholic*. How convenient.....

It’s all part of their power grab to try to be able to claim spiritual authority over anyone who names the name of CHRIST.

Nothing worse than a lapsed Catholic.

HMMMmmm...

This seems a bit, shall we say, JUDGMENTAL.

Or, at the very least, an UNKIND thing to say.

EsPECIALly to someone you're trying to lure back in the warm embrace of Mother Church.

Nothing worse than a lapsed Catholic.

oh, we know.... we know....

So glad that NONE of these folks were LAPSED!!!

Pope Stephen VI (896–897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]

Pope John XII (955–964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.

Pope Benedict IX (1032–1044, 1045, 1047–1048), who "sold" the Papacy

Pope Boniface VIII (1294–1303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy

Pope Urban VI (1378–1389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]

Pope Alexander VI (1492–1503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]

Pope Leo X (1513–1521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]

Pope Clement VII (1523–1534), also a Medici, whose power-politicking with France, Spain, and Germany got Rome sacked.

If she didn’t have any sin in her soul, she wouldn’t NEED grace.

There is nothing written about any such actions on her part in the scriptures. However, we do not know ALL that happened in the lives of the Apostles, disciples and with Mary. I would think it natural for her to share insight from all those things she kept in her heart about Jesus.

That is simply the typical RC recourse to argument from silence, that as Scripture does not exclude something, then it can be justified as true. But while such maybe allowed for speculation, yet it is simply untenable for doctrine.

Rastafarianism believes that Solomon had a child with the Queen of Sheba, who had visited Solomon in Israel. Since there is nothing that excludes this - except that the Holy Spirit characteristically records even less notable aspects of Biblical subjects - then a consistent RC must contend this could become an official belief.

Likewise, having zero examples of any prayers to anyone in Heaven but the Lord among the close to 200 in Scripture, or any testimony of anyone but the Lord being able to hear and respond to virtually innumerable incessant prayers addressed to them - or even a distinction btwn believers of saints and non-saints - yet Catholicism teaches the heretical doctrine of prayers to departed saints .

Moreover, while Mary is highly blessed among women, and is to be honored according to what is written, this does not translate in the type of supererogation of praise seen in Catholicism, in which humble Mary is made into an almost almighty demigoddess to whom "Jesus owes His Precious Blood" to,

whose [Mary] merits we are saved by,

who "had to suffer, as He did, all the consequences of sin,"

and "was elevated to a certain equality with the Heavenly Father,"

even so that “sometimes salvation is quicker if we remember Mary's name then if we invoked the name of the Lord Jesus,"

for indeed saints have "but one advocate," and that is Mary, who "alone art truly loving and solicitous for our salvation,"

and whose power now "is all but unlimited,"

for indeed she "seems to have the same power as God,"

"surpassing in power all the angels and saints in Heaven,"

so that "the Holy Spirit acts only by the Most Blessed Virgin, his Spouse."

Moreover, "there is no grace which Mary cannot dispose of as her own, which is not given to her for this purpose,"

and who has "authority over the angels and the blessed in heaven,"

including "assigning to saints the thrones made vacant by the apostate angels,"

whom the good angels "unceasingly call out to," greeting her "countless times each day with 'Hail, Mary,' while prostrating themselves before her, begging her as a favour to honour them with one of her requests,"

and who (obviously) cannot "be honored to excess,"

and who is (obviously) the glory of Catholic people, whose "honor and dignity surpass the whole of creation." Sources .

Yet as i have said before, one would have a hard time in Bible times explaining kneeling before a statue and praising the entity it represented in the unseen world, and as having Divine powers and glory, and making offerings and beseeching such for Heavenly help, directly accessed by mental prayer.

Moses, put down those rocks! I was only engaging in hyper dulia, not adoring her. Can't you tell the difference?

More .

Good job. Same information given in my concordance but it was too late at night for me to figure out how to type in Greek.

Amazing discussion on the whole. If only people were as passionate about the last 40 years of child sacrifice that has the LORD God Almighty ready to release His wrath on the world. At least this era will be over and the future looks so amazingly wonderful with the true church being governed from its place of origin...JERUSALEM!

Scary thought, will the power be relinquished with joy? Will the gold be stripped and used to honor the Messiah who will rule the nations with a rod of iron?

Mary, the humble servant, would be appalled and in tears crying out the words of her Son, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

Protestants Catholics have a child-like, elementary view of Christianity, The only thing necessary for their salvation is to BELIEVE in the power and privilege of Rome!! Forget about living your life for others. Only BELIEVE! Do whatever you feel like doing. Stay drunk all the time, be a dope addict, shack up all your life and never get married, only BELIEVE!

Fixed, as that is more in conformity with the actual evidence, as "Protestant" is defined as the manner of those whom you war with here (evangelical types). For what you do constitutes what you really believe, (Ja. 2:!8) and what Rome really effectually teaches is that Ted Kennedy Catholics are members, and thus what really matters is you die in her arms.

73% (highest) of Pentecostal/Foursquare believers strongly affirm that Christ was sinless on earth, with Catholics, Lutherans and Methodists being tied at 33%, and the lowest being among Episcopalians with just 28% http://www.barna.org/barna-update/article/5-barna-update/53>

47.8% of the Evangelicals and 11.8% of Catholics affirm the Bible is Literally true. 6.5% of the former and 19.8% of the latter see it as an ancient book of history and legends. http://www.baylor.edu/content/services/document.php/33304.pdf^

56% of Assemblies of God (versus 17% Catholics) Christians strongly DISAGREE that Satan is just a symbol of evil [rather than a real being]. ^

Of course, true to form RCs will attempt to dismiss such evidence from a variety of agencies as being the work of biased conspirators who favor evangelicals. which simply testifies to the cultic devotion and denial that Rome fosters, along side the more typical liberalism and doctrinal apathy.

your FACTS will NEVER trump the catholic’s EMOTIONS.

Only the intervention of the Holy Spirit can do that.
