It is commonly supposed that if God can't do absolutely anything and everything, then He isn't all-powerful. Yet Scripture teaches there are some things even God cannot do, though it affirms in countless places that He is, nonetheless, almighty.
Here is a list of things the Bible says outright, or by necessary implication, God cannot do:
1. Lie (or do anything else immoral)Titus 1:2
2. Deny Himself (i.e., do anything out of character)2 Timothy 2:13
3. Remit/forgive sins without the shedding of blood (i.e., taking of life)Hebrews 9:22
4. Avoid going to Calvary if man is to have hope of forgivenessMatthew 26:39
5. Pardon someone who will not repent/believe2 Peter 3:9
6. Remain righteous by passing over sins and never requiring blood atonementRomans 3:25-26
7. Be tempted by evilJames 1:13
Can you add to the list?
Can you compose a definition of almighty more consonant with what the Bible says God can and cannot do?
Can you think of reasons why this might be more than an academic exercise or a needless distinction?
God cannot compel us to love him.
>> “ Several of the things on this list are not true.” <<
No kidding?

Remember, you are dealing with a translation by men!
“I can only assume youre just being facetious now, since your original comment specifically used the phrase desirable as a mate, which removes any ambiguity as to how you were using the word.”
Take that up with the Official KJ Bible Online:

Genesis 2:18
God is who He is and we don't question His abilities or motives. God is the great “I AM”. What the real issue is, is that we don't fear God. Otherwise we wouldn't be discussing what God can't do but rather what we fail to do.
It's all a matter of perspective.
I guess we are luck that Adam did not find one of the animals to be his ‘help meet’!
RE: It just seems like satire/humor to be joking about God.
It does not look like a joke to me. I mean if you want to refute the author, my suggestion would be for you to tell us in what way the scriptures he cites are his mis-understanding or mis-interpretations.
Not saying he is right in all of it, but I don’t think his intent is to make a joke out of the topic.
“God cant learn something new.”
When the Second Person of the Trinity took flesh, Jesus grew in wisdom over the years (Luke 2:52). Jesus grew in experience. He may have known everything, but He had never experienced life as a man.
true ‘nuf - i can picture myself worshiping a being who could hit either.
If God is God as Christians and Jews conceive of God then it is just silly to say that there are things that God cannot do, even if the one that says those things has theological degrees or great reputation. God can do what God will do or God is but a god. There are certainly things that we can be sure that God does not do. God, being God, certainly has the power to not do things that He can do.
LOL!
My statements are based on the Tanach and what G-d said about Himself.
would be a better post with specifics
Jesus was tempted to sin, correct? If Jesus was G-d he would not have had to worry about temptation.
kinda missing the whole point of the God-man thing there. Sorry for the misplaced hyphen.
Jesus worried about sin? or what, the possibility/probability of sinning? Chapter and verse please?
okay, i’m Catholic, and therefore by the standards of the most klannish FReepers am totally ignorant of all things Bible; yet even i know of Matthew Chapter 4.
Matthew 4:1-11. Luke 4:1-13.
damn - if you know what those verses are, how come you don’t know WHAT THOSE VERSES ARE?
