has anyone called you the Pharisee’s pharisee before? You do know Salvation is thru grace, and not laws?

How old does a hymn have to be to fit your rather narrow criteria?

Amazing Grace was written the 1770s and was tied to the current melody in 1853. It predates much of what you think of as older, traditional music.

Methinks you likely would not sing an Anglican hymn period

Lyrics written in the 1780s by John Newton, a priest in the Church of England. Current music adapted in an American hymnbook during the 1820s. Both pre-date the onset of gospel music in the U.S. during the late 19th century.

To each their own. It's what makes the world go round.

The tune is from 1830--when Jackson sat in the White House, Texas and Utah were part of Mexico, and Arkansas and Michigan were not yet states.

I am not a big Amazing Grace fan either. Give me Great is Thy Faithfulness and The Gift of Love , etc and I am fine. But I like the modern music, too.
