Hi - I come to you humbly asking for your thoughts and prayers for our daughter. She just went abroad as she starts her Junior year from Gettysburg College and is in Melbourne, Australia. She has been there just over 2 weeks.
Things were going great until she called this morning to say she was in the ER because she hasn't felt well, has had a headache for 2 days, and feels like she has been hit by a truck.
Long story short, she is being treated for a bacterial infection and the hospital is bringing in infectious disease doctors. Her temp was 104. She is on antibiotics and feeling better...but we are so worried.
We live in Baltimore and I feel helpless. She is a great student and has made friends, two of which have stayed with her almost the whole time. The logistics are being handled thru an organization called Arcadia, and they have been tremendous, both in Australia and the US office.
We have a wonderful support system (family and friends) praying for her and have felt their prayers as my husband and I feel so helpless....but I would truly covet and be evergrateful if you feel led to pray for us and our daughter, Christina.
I apologize ahead of time if I can't respond personally....please know I will try. God bless you.
I said to my sister today, “how does anyone get through anything without Jesus?” My family/friends have been praying...and there is NO way I would be as calm and peaceful without the mercy of Jesus Christ and the words from so many faithful prayer warriors.
Once I saw Salvation’s ping...I got tears in my eyes. God bless you.
thank you, Smokin’!
:)Feel a little better now and I will pray a rosary for her tom.
thank you so much, liberalh8ter (couldn’t shorten that one like I have been doing on some others...it would be an insult. :P)
Wonderful....thank you!
Thank you, Conor. IIRC, you and I aren’t too far from each other...so, thank you, neighbor!
Dear Lord of Mercy and Father of Comfort,
You are the One I turn to for help in moments of weakness and times of need. I ask you to be with your servant in this illness. Psalm 107:20 says that you send out your Word and heal. So then, please send your healing Word to your servant. In the name of Jesus, drive out all infirmity and sickness from her body.
Dear Lord, I ask you to turn this weakness into strength, suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort for others. May your servant trust in your goodness and hope in your faithfulness, even in the middle of this suffering. Let her be filled with patience and joy in your presence as she waits for your healing touch. Please restore your servant to full health, dear Father. Remove all fear and doubt from her heart by the power of your Holy Spirit, and may you, Lord, be glorified through her life.
As you heal and renew your servant, Lord, may she bless and praise you.
All of this I pray in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
thank you.
Praying for your daughter. I know how hard it must be to have her so far away when she is ill.
thank you much, basil. We’ve been so comforted by so many people praying for her and us. God bless you.
Praying from here for you and your husband, for your daughter’s healing, and for blessings to her new friends who have remained with her at this challenging time.
thank you.
prayers sent
Prayers for your daughter and your family.
Prayers for Christina and you and your whole family. I know first-hand what it’s like to have a daughter hospitalized in a foreign land. Not fun, but I’m sure the docs in Aus are excellent and will get her infection under control stat. Prayers for your peace and comfort.
Our daughter just got back from Japan...I don’t know how I would handle her being sick and me not being able to do anything about it.
We will keep her and you in our prayers.
You got it, FRiend!
