In an urgent message to UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon, Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Louis Sako has said that the UN cannot stand by and be a witness to the ongoing atrocities committed against Christians in Iraq.
While thanking the UN leader for his public condemnation of the violence against Christians in areas controlled by the Islamic State, the Chaldean prelate asked for energetic international pressure to stop the persecution. He emphasized that the militants want to wipe out the Christian community.
The instability in Iraq threatens the entire region, the Patriarch reminded the UN leader. He pleaded for diplomatic action to end the violence, and to ensure that Iraqs government respects the rights of minorities.
In a separate message, the Chaldean Patriarch joined with the Christian leaders of Mosul in statement expressing shock and pain at what happened to the innocent Christians of Mosul because of their religious affiliation. Citing the statement by Ban Ki-moon, the Church leaders said that the violence in Mosul was a crime against humanity.
We are waiting for practical acts to reassure our people, not for statements of condemnation and denouncement, the Church leaders said.

Standing by is probably the best we can hope for from the UN. They will probably send aid to the muslims for having to deal with the resistance of the intolerant, bigoted Christians.
yep
I looked to see all the comments regarding her remarks on FR, other sites and on the air.
Nothing.
She excoriated in the strongest terms the lack of support being given to the Christians being slaughtered as we speak.....lack of support by Christian church leaders of all denominations all over the world. She included the office of the papacy and the Vatican....and the Judge is a strong Catholic. She pulled NO punches.
About the only thing the victims of this Muslim jihad are getting are sanctimonious, publicized "prayers" by a pitiful few church movers and shakers.
Well, these poor souls need money, guidance, shelter, rescue, protection, safe passages, you name it. The prayers, however well-meaning are not saving them from death, injury and loss of everything they own.
The church leaders are busting their seams seeing what they can do for the illegal border children who, as everyone knows are being fed, sheltered, medicated, clad and entertained in manners they've never experienced before, and they are SAFE, not in danger of being burned alive or their heads cut off tomorrow.
I agree with the Judge....shame on the Christian leadership community worldwide for their lack of interest and proper support.
Here they are supposed to be shepherds and protectors of their flocks....but it appears to be Wolves 100 and Lambs ZERO up till now.
