Some Papal Quotes that somehow and in some way beyond my meager intellect are in continuity with each other, or something.
First Quote
Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441. ex cathedra (infallibly defined):
“The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he has persevered within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church.” http://www.ewtn.com/library/COUNCILS/FLORENCE.HTM#4
Second Quote
“I’m not interested in converting Evangelicals to Catholicism. I want people to find Jesus in their own community. There are so many doctrines we will never agree on. Let’s not spend our time on those. Rather, let’s be about showing the love of Jesus.” --Pope Francis 2014
Yeah. Umm. So. Discuss. Or something.
Bonus Quotes for discussion purposes.
Pope PIUS IX, the Holy Office-- THE SYLLABUS OF ERRORS CONDEMNED :
15. Every man is free to embrace and profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider true. --condemned Allocution "Maxima quidem," June 9, 1862; Damnatio "Multiplices inter," June 10, 1851.
16. Man may, in the observance of any religion whatever, find the way of eternal salvation, and arrive at eternal salvation. --condemned Encyclical "Qui pluribus," Nov. 9, 1846.
17. Good hope at least is to be entertained of the eternal salvation of all those who are not at all in the true Church of Christ. -- condemned
Encyclical "Quanto conficiamur," Aug. 10, 1863, etc.
18. Protestantism is nothing more than another form of the same true Christian religion, in which form it is given to please God equally as in the Catholic Church. --condemned Encyclical "Noscitis," Dec. 8, 1849.

All this shows is that Benedict XVI also spoke of some of the same modernist views that came out of Vatican II. Although Benedict wasn’t as in-your-face as Francis is he too asserted things that were contrary to the Traditional Catholic Faith prior to Vatican II.
I am actually surprised that this is what you were taught. Consider yourself blessed. Typically RCIA programs (including the one I went through) teach the "fullness of the Truth" mantra rather than the Outside the Church There is No Salvation doctrine. The former isn't as offensive to non-Catholic ears. Never was I taught I *had* to be Catholic. Only now am I actually learning the Traditional Faith as it was taught prior to VII.
That's why it is rarely if ever quoted by the Catholic religion...They know what it says...It doesn't fit with their man made religion...
The ones that can be traced back to the apostles...Your religion has given them many names before they tried to wipe them out...Read some history, you'll find out their names...
Christ was talking to his apostles, not Joe Blow.
Act 15:4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
Act 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
Act 15:6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter. Act 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
Act 15:8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
Act 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
That's just silly...God bare witness to the Gentiles and gave them the same Holy Spirit the Apostles and other Jews received...Where do you guys come up with your theories when you have scripture available to you???
You present a false dichotomy by throwing the Bible into the mix. It's not the Church OR the Bible it's the Church AND the Bible.
You're asking for my conversion story and it's long and difficult to explain. The concise version is that I played the prodigal son for about 10 years during which time God used various sledgehammers to remind me that He existed and expected my complete surrender. When I finally broke I asked Him where to go and what to do and He led me directly into the Catholic Church. There was some kicking and screaming involved in the journey and for the last 17 years I've known I'm where I'm supposed to be.
Although the utterances of the current bishop of Rome have bothered me a great deal I don't see any signs that it's time to move on to something else, and when God wants me to stop and go a different direction there's no subtlety or still small voice. It usually involves a battering ram and a bull horn, I guess that's what I need.
I reached my conclusions about Catholicism before I even heard of RCIA, although my RCIA class was taught by a crusty old US Marine colonel who entered the priesthood after he retired so the instruction was for the most part doctrinally sound.
So, you belong to multiple religions? Aren't you ecumenical!
God truly blessed you with His Gift of Faith. Hang in there my friend.
Only the Catholic Church can be traced back to the apostles and Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
All other "christian" religions were founded by some confused men. I find it odd that your refuse to identify the extinct religion(s) that you belong to.
How Old Is Your Church?
If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex- monk of the Catholic Church, in the year 1517.
If you belong to the Church of England, your religion was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to remarry.
If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560.
If you are a Protestant Episcopalian, your religion was an offshoot of the Church of England founded by Samuel Seabury in the American colonies in the 17th century.
If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582.
If you are a Methodist, your religion was launched by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1744.
If you are a Unitarian, Theophilus Lindley founded your church in London in 1774.
If you are a Mormon (Latter Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your religion in Palmyra, N.Y., in 1829.
If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1605.
If you are of the Dutch Reformed church, you recognize Michaelis Jones as founder, because he originated your religion in New York in 1628.
If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865.
If you are a Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your religion was born and to Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy as its founder.
If you belong to one of the religious organizations known as ‘Church of the Nazarene,” “Pentecostal Gospel.” “Holiness Church,” “Pilgrim Holiness Church,” “Jehovah’s Witnesses,” your religion is one of the hundreds of new sects founded by men within the past century.
If you are Catholic, you know that your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ the Son of God, and it is still the same Church.
>> “Only the Catholic Church can be traced back to the apostles and Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” <<
.
Such an absurd statement!
The apostles had been dead for 250 years or more before the catholic church came into being to persecute the true followers of Yeshua’s Way.
.
The previous verses have no impact on this discussion whatsoever.
Acts 15:8 And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the holy Spirit just as he did us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, for by faith he purified their hearts.
>>Christ was talking to his apostles, not Joe Blow.<<
Oh good grief. As if we need more proof that Catholics dont know scripture. Here, let me help you a little. Hint it wasnt Christ speaking.
Acts 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
It was your main man Peter that made the statement that all believers have been given the Holy Spirit even as he did unto us and that there was no difference between us and them.
Seriously, Catholics really need to at least read the scripture we present and work a little more diligently on both reading comprehension and focusing on scripture rather than the indoctrination of the RCC.
Im really not trying to be nasty ebb tide. Your eternal future is at stake here. We know that the words of the apostles as written in the Greek text of the New Testament are the very words inspired by the Holy Spirit. I doubt seriously that we disagree on that. Therefore, scripture must trump anything any organization says or teaches if they differ. What the Catholic Church teaches differs with scripture on many, many issues. Taking the word of the RCC over the words of the Holy Spirit is scripture is very serious and will lead to a very nasty eternity.
Such and absurd statement!
Peter was the first Pope, and the Catholic Church has had successor popes ever since.
By the way who are the true followers of Yeshua's Way? What religion or creed do they profess? No one seems to want to name this sect.
So is yours. I advise you worry more about you eternal future than mine.
Please do not insult the memory of Peter, who with all his brashness truly loved our Savior.
Pope is a pagan office. Constantine was the first catholic ponitfus maximus, appointed by his pagan priestess mother. Successor pagans are of no relevance.
>> “By the way who are the true followers of Yeshua’s Way?” <<
Those that follow his commandments as they are written in the scriptures, and on their hearts.
Yeshua’s Way has no sects, buildings, creeds, or religions. It lives in the hearts of his elect.

Scripture trumps both of them and it says that Israel has been promised that land for ever and that they will one day have a kingdom with Christ as their King here on earth.
And THE LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. Genesis 13:14-15
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
The apostles understood that the kingdom of Israel would again be established on earth with Christ as its King.
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? Acts 1:6
Jesus simply told them it wasnt for them to know when that would happen. Scripture teaches that Jesus will return and set up the Kingdom in Jerusalem and that it would last forever.
And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever. And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem. Micah 4:7-8
And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Daniel 2:44
All nations will recognize it.
They shall call Jerusalem the throne of the Lord; and all nations shall be gathered unto it; neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart. Jeremiah 3:17
All nations will be in subjection to it, even those that came against it.
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts Zechariah 14:16
Think that is not on earth? Consider what they do with their previous weapons.
And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. Micah 4:3
Its one earth that they had implements of war and its on earth that Christ will reign from Jerusalem.
How do y'all recognize each other? Do you have formal houses of worship?
Who's insulting St. Peter, who happens to be buried beneath the high altar of St. Peter's Basilica?
