841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330
Moses and Elijah knew Christ, although (apart from possible infused knowledge from the Holy Spirit) they could not have known a really full theology about Christ until He ascended and they, by His merit and grace, entered heaven.
I am glad Jesus is the Judge, and not me. And I am convinced that when a final judgment is made, every single person, no matter what their circumstances, will acknowledge, "That was an exact, a thoroughly fair, an astoundingly, stunningly perfect judgment."
So the Lord Jesus in Whom we trust is powerless to save us??! You are quite mistaken.
I didn’t say that worshiping the true God falsely would save the worshiper.
The more I learn about Traditional Catholic teaching the more I can not reconcile the Vatican II NewChurch to the Traditional Catholic Church of 1900 years. There are way too many ignorant Catholics on this forum who will go out of their way to defend the novelties of Vatican II.
>> “So the Lord Jesus in Whom we trust is powerless to save us?” <<
.
Ah, the typical catholic strawman reply!
He just won’t be saving those of you that refuse to obey his commandments.
From Matthew 28-16-20
Then Jesus approached and said to them,
“All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
Worshiping falsely is not worship of the true God.
Only that which was set out in Torah is worship of the true God. (no matter what their lips may say)
>> “teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” <<
It appears that what you posted is exactly what I said, is it not?
Baptizing is the word they chose to replace the Hebrew “Mikva,” which is a lifelong process of confession, repentance, and correction unto righteousness. That is what leads ultimately to salvation at the last trump.
.
Besides I would never hope to be saved by my merits, but by His, since a contrite heart He will not spurn.
Read Matthew 7:23.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? It's a clear parallel to this, also from Matthew (25):17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
44 They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?A strong teaching on the importance of doing the will of the Father, the Works of Mercy.45 He will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.
46 Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
“Iniquity”
The state of being without Torah (the teaching of righteousness)
.
“If this is not the case, why does the catechism say catholics and muslims adore the one merciful God?”
It does not. No matter how many times you try to claim that it does, it does not.
Not sure of your point. I know there are some who say that the entire Mosaic law is applicable to Christians, and that all Christians who reject laws found in Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy are damned. Is that your position? Or if not, what IS your position?
Presently, the portion of Leviticus pertaining to temple worship is suspended by the removal of the curtain. (and the temple, until Yeshua provides his new one).
The rest is for our benefit, as James stated, as the perfect law of liberty.
It is our university of righteousness.
.
Could you extend it by answering my question concerning the damnation of all Christians who do not observe Torah law (except what pertains to the Temple)?
Torah is our sole source of righteousness, and our teacher of righteousness.
If we are in Yeshua and he in us, the Holy Spirit “writes” Torah on our heart. (”those that love me keep my commandments.”) That is the nature of grace.
OK, I understand your point. Thanks. I was asking, though, whether Christians who do not keep all the laws, commandments, and statutes of Genesis-Exodus-Leviticus-Deuteronomy-Numbers are saved or damned?
