841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330

“I am very concerned that the catechism equates the God of the Bible with the false god of Islam by declaring both to adore the one merciful God.”
Since it does not, cease worry.
But even if it did, why would you care?

I agree. I’m finished with the discussion. Learned a lot which is the whole point of these threads.

Time to lock this thread (just like the same thread posted a dozen times before!)
A meaningless stroll through flame bait, bigotry and willful blindness.

You’re the one posting repetitive posts that contain no actual content about the posts you are replying to. Maybe you need to take a break and try later?
To: Boogieman
Really? Like your repeated posts to me?
Try reading. Really.

Pope Urban II initiated a call for the crusades. Obviously all of Europe and Britain was involved in it.

True. That was one person. Other leaders of people also made separate decisions at different times and mounted forays for other reasons. But let's not argue a pointless argument, please. Thanks, R2z

Have any of my posts simply been repeating the same phrase over and over, with no content to address specific points?
I don’t think so. I am commenting, you are spamming, then spamming more when people tell you it’s just spam. Get a grip.

“Ahem! GeorgyGirl2, he wasn’t the only one who had a stake in that endeavor. Please review your English (all European, actually) history. Thank you, R2z “
I think you were arguing until you decided to call it pointless and stopped after I just stated a fact or two. :-)

I don't know, I think the situation with the Muslims is a pretty clear analogue to the situation with the Jews who wanted to kill Jesus. They both
think that they are worshiping the God of Abraham, but according to the standard Christ gave us, they are not, for how can they if they don't know Him?
Maybe it's just best to say they are under a delusion and leave it at that.

You're right. I'm wrong. You may take the prize.

This is the most extreme yes, and sharia law is based on it, so Christians who pay the alms [jizza tax I think it is called] are left alone, but under muslim rule.
And for the record, I am no fan of Islam, but its followers are still human beings, even those who don’t act like it.

We should be in prayer for, not only muslims, but all who do not know Christ as Savior.

What is very sad, and somewhat scary, is that the catechism doesn't call Islam a false religion They don't need to; it's assumed that all religions except Catholicism are "false religions" to some degree or another. It helps to read this stuff in the context of the rest of Catholic teaching, which it assumes.
As for "Allah being a false god," certainly some of the things Muslims say about Allah are not compatible with the Christian understanding. On the other hand, Arabic-speaking Christians have called God "Allah" for centuries, so simply saying "Allah is a false god" wouldn't cut it.
