I love it when folks like you try to tell Catholics what we believe. We are not a Church that believes in salvation by works. We believe in salvation by faith through the cross. But as you know, faith without works is dead. Works are the manifestation of faith. Works won’t earn you salvation; rather they are the fruit of faith.
I suggest spending your time evangelizing non-Christians, rather than the Church Christ founded.

You BET!
I'm a church going Catholic and I have had to deal with with people like this personally. I had something similar to a near death experience one night and met my dead father in-law in heaven in the presence of Jesus Christ. When I told these fundamentalists they left me alone after that.
Look at that 20yr who went on a killing spree because he was still a "virgin". Did he have ANY religion in his life? When I say religion I mean Christian religion. I bet not.
So for all of you fundamentalist Christians out there who are "worried" about Catholic's salvation, don't worry we are "good to go." We know the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. There are millions of people out there who are "Nothing" that face potential eternal damnation. Work on them, they need it.

That sounds downright Lutheran or Calvinistic.
Are you like some kinda' reverse-Jesuit, double-agent sleeper-mole bent on secretly distorting the teachings of the OTC (One True Church!), but without needing to use one of those rub-on tanning solutions and hair dye to better blend in with the crowd?
If so...I'll send you next week's new (double-secret) code keys by freepmail.
[psst... keep up the good work!]

Works are the manifestation of faith. Works wont earn you salvation; rather they are the fruit of faith. So what are the 'dead works' we are to repent of in Hebrews 6:1? Are you going to merely presume your good works as a Catholic ARE good works and not dead works?

We are not a Church that believes in salvation by works. You believe in salvation without works???

You know, when I was a Catholic, I gave those same kind of responses just to get my Christian acquaintances from bugging me about it. I would say whatever it took to get them to leave me alone. Thank The Lord that he opened my eyes to the truth and rescued me from Catholicism at the age of 25 (32 years ago). Now I can truthfully make those statements.

Thank you for saving me from getting involved in responding to this barforama.
Excellent summation for all of us Catholics who live in Christ everyday.

While I’m nervous about entering into this discussion and without actually reading the whole article the writer did mention 9 different Catechisms of the Catholic Church in support of the points he was making above.
Is he in error about what the Church says?
