Thanks for the reply!

There seem to be varying answers to the question of “Must I believe in the papacy and Marian doctrines?” depending on who you ask.

I suspect NKP_vet might have a more hard line answer.

Was just curious about the official view. As a former Catholic I do not recall.

As a priest told a person with the same doubts as you. The Pope and Mary would never want to be the reason you walked away from Jesus.

No sense in calling yourself a “Catholic” if you don’t believe in the Pope or Mary. As a Catholic you are either in all the way or you have effectively excommunicated yourself. I can not fathom the thought of not agreeing with the Pope in matters of faith and morals. I can not fathom the thought of not going to Mother Mary to put in a special word for me with her son. She knows Him better than anyone.
