How do you think he does it? (I don’t know.)

There comes a time when a man’s loved ones need to gently take his elbow and slowly lead him off the platform, for his own good.

This is a non issue—nowhere in scripture does it say how old we’re supposed to think the earth is.

Pat preaches prosperity theology, too.

There is a series of books titled "The Roadside Geology of [name your state]" and which explains and illustrates the geologic history of each of the United States. It explains the structural history of the state using readily accessible rock types and structures. I've read and learned quite a bit from the two volumes I've followed, stopping at highway cuts, etc. (Oregon and Arizona). It's a good way to get your hands on what you are being told. A good video from the "Story of the Earth" series deals with the deposition of gold deposits in California and Nevada. My Dad worked at the Empire Mine (Quartz vein deposit) near Grass Valley, CA and I worked for Carlin Gold (Newmont) in the submicroscopic gold deposits of the Carlin trend. The geology behind the two types of deposit are covered quite well. The concepts of plate tectonics and deep time are covered in this video.

Pat is an old man. By the way, you do not have to believe in a young earth to be a person who rejects evolution and who affirms intelligent design.

I actually believe that evolution and creation are one in the same with evolution being how things were created with each theory supporting the other.

I fully believe time as we know and measure it today and biblical time are two different things.

For instance I think it’s ludicrous to believe that everything including the earth was created in six actual days. God may count one day as a million years.

Case in point to prove this theory Noah for instance is said in the bible to live to the ripe old age of 950. Can anyone honestly believe its possible for anyone to actually live 950 years? I think it’s pretty obvious that they were counting years differently.. Most believeably was that each month or lunar cycle was counted as a year which would have put Noahs age at 79.

There are acrheological facts left behind as well as undeniable holes in the biblical text.

Lets take the dinosaurs for example. The bible doesn’t mention them at all yet we’ve dug up there bones. Could not the dinsaurs purpose during creation be to spread seed and fertilize the earth? They left big ole piles of dung to do just that!

Man and woman was supposedly created in a garden. Then how did they spread to every continent without boats ? Could they not have started multiplying before the continental drift then when things started drifting apart thats how they ended up on each continent?

I’m a firm believer in the bible but I’m also reasonable and the bible doesn’t tell us all we want to know just what we need to know.

You don’t have to believe the earth is 6000 years old in order to be a Creationist.

BTW, I know Pat very personally as my mother was his personal assistant for 15 years.

Pats problem is that he is not politically correct but has to put up a front that he is to a certain extent and his old age causes things to slip out from time to time.

All these debates dance around the real question: is there more to reality than just matter?

Pat "Korean War Combat Veteran" Robertson ... as he proudly proclaimed while seeking that 1988 GOP Presidential Nomination.

I filed a Federal Lawsuit in 1988 against Pat Robertson's "corporation" (700 Club) for hiding it's financial activities and the truth about it's IRS 501-C3 tax-exempt status ...

considering Pat Robertson's slide into comical irrelevance (except for the MSM) ...

it was a good decision.

Regardless of how Robertson stated, he is right about young Earth theory.

The explanation that has made the most sense to me is that you have to start from God’s nature and how He creates, which isn’t how nature “creates.” He is above and outside the “natural” laws of our universe, and even created the laws Himself, so He can follow and utilize them or not follow them depending on His purposes.

Given God’s nature and purposes, then, He would have created everything as it says in Genesis, in six literal days. When the sun was created doesn’t matter because in His mind He’d already created what a day would be, and He showed Himself to be above the sun, which He knew would be something man would worship besides Him. (cont’d)

The fact that God seems to violate laws of nature (even to ancient people, who would not have been able to explain how God created light first since all the sources for it that they knew of God didn’t create right away) shows His sovereignty. And when God created things and life, too, to create the whole universe He could simply bring anything from nothing at any point in what would seem to be its natural development. Since Adam and Eve were created as mature adults in one day, they would have seemed to be older on that day. The dinosaurs are another question. If they didn’t live with man, would God have created an earth with their fossils? As unlikely as that seems at first, he could have, if He had greater purpose for doing so. Atheists have objected that all this would make God a deceiver but it doesn’t. He’s given us the account of Creation, which by the human generations involved is only 6,000 years, and He expects us to believe His Word.
