“Yes, some lies are okay. That principle is long established.”
I sort of agree, for the record.
Lying in the OT involved the intent to hurt by deception or take advantage of someone.
If the Nazis burst into my home and ask if my wife is upstairs, I’m not saying yes.
Wow! Look at all those Roman denominations! And those are just the ones that bow the knee to Rome still.
Nice chart . Romanism does indeed apply to the Latin Rite.
But there is indeed a (Latin) Catholic, a Coptic Catholic, an Ethiopian Catholic, a Maronite Catholic, a Syriac Catholic, a Syro-Malankara Catholic, an Armenian Catholic, a Chaldean Catholic, a Syro-Malabar Catholic, an Albanian Catholic, a Belarusian Catholic, a Bulgarian Catholic, a Croatian Greek Catholic, a Greek Byzantine Catholic, a Hungarian Catholic, an Italo-Albanian Catholic, a Macedonian Catholic, a Melkite Greek Catholic, a Romanian Catholic, a Russian Catholic, a Ruthenian Catholic, a Slovak Catholic, or a Ukranian Catholic, etc.
Abraham's lie about his wife almost destroyed a nation. There was no intent to hurt anyone there, was there?
All lies are wrong. All lies indicate a lack of trust in God.
All lies.
If the Nazis burst into my home and ask if my wife is upstairs, Im not saying yes.
You don't have to say anything.
You tried this before, and proves nothing. The devil knows and quotes Scripture also. Most of which is redundant in Mass, and includes "Amen," and Catholics will not get much of the whole Bible via Mass, as has been shown.
“Because only idiots dont practice what they preach.”
That statement is untrue.
“If the Nazis burst into my home and ask if my wife is upstairs, Im not saying yes.”
And seeing my mother on her deathbed, I didn’t blurt out, “Wow, mom, you look like you’re at death’s door. Can’t be long now.”
I’m getting the impression that there are people who think such restraint is on a par with perjury.
s/idiot/hypocrite/
Why not?
For if it hadn't been for the Catholics; we'd not have Chapter and Verse numbers!
We'd NEVER be able to find ANYTHING!
nearly???
Rahab...
The liturgy that is the subject of this thread is certainly not scriptural.
Everything about the “Mass” is completely bereft of scripture.
LC, you have the problem!
The instruction given in Acts 15 was the minimum to keep new believers out of trouble, on their way to learning all that Yehova’s Torah had in store to enrich their lives.
.
Just some quotes from the Mass for you. Please check to see if they are in your Bible.
Holy, Holy, Holy
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord
Lamb of God (four times in the Mass)
Our Father
Behold the Lamb
Amen
Many, many Psalms — check the Daily Readings threads.
Alleluia
I am in the Father
In the beginning
Light of Christ
It is right and just
Take this all of you, and eat of it, for this is my Body, which will be given up for you.
Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
Just a sprinkling of saying from the Mass......then think of all the Old Testament readings, the letters of St. Paul and the Gospels.
God bless you as you learn these things.
So is your real name LC??
Clips from scripture do not make an idea that is completely contrary to scripture scriptural.
.
I’m not making any sense out of that statement of yours.
“Just some quotes from the Mass for you. Please check to see if they are in your Bible.”
That something is “in the Bible” does not mean it is being used without changing the meaning. This comes back to “Study to show yourself approved...”
Have you made time yet to obey?
What are you talking about?
Pretending that the blessing that Yeshua spoke as he broke the barley loaf at his last supper has anything to do with your “Mass” is the root of your confusion.
A loose translation of that blessing can be found at Numbers 6:24-26. It was traditionally pronounced at the evening meal for every Hebrew family since the time of Abraham.
Yeshua added a request to it: “As often as you do this, do it in remembrance of me.”
