A bishop who met with Pope Francis in a rare private audience on 4 April has said in an interview that the two men discussed the issue of the ordination of proven married men viri probati in a serious and positive way.

How does one “interpret” dogma? How do you interpret the Blessed Mother’s Immaculate Conception. It’s like trying to interpret a rock.
It can be expanded on, like deriving principles from first principles, or its practical implications can be explicated. Vatican II was largely an example of the latter, as far as I know.
From what dogmas did Vatican II derive practical implications? The dogma, that, “Yes, Virginia, there is Salvation Outside the Church”?
There's no theological or moral objection from a Catholic POV. It's not dogma.
Buh-bye Jesus?
No women in priestly ordination (which includes deacons.) That was declared settled by JP2, was it not? Not debatable.
So marriage is obligatory for all? Are they going to be allowed to finish high school first?
(1) Any child molester priest can and should have his “faculties” terminated, instantly, on the spot, by the bishop, and be turned over to the criminal justice system, if the bishop finds the allegations have some foundation in fact. That’s what my bishop (Bishop Stika of Knoxville) did when he confronted a priest about accusations.
(1) Getting married doesn’t stop child molesters from molesting. The majority of child molesters are married men who manage to appear outwardly normal. They are famous for being crafty, being skilled deceivers and leading double lives. That King of Perverst Alfred Kinsey was a married man with four children.
The priest does represent Christ, but the Church does not --- for that reason -- rule out married men being ordained. That's not part of the doctrine; though if course Jesus' and Paul's honoring of celibacy does show the excellence of celibacy.
Not so fast there. JP II also once said there would be no altar girls.
Everything in now debatable in New Church, including Holy Communion for adulterers; ask Francis and his sidekick, Hans.
Did he? When? (Sincere question.) I remember going to my old pastor, Fr. Dominic Tamburello,to voice my disapproval of altar girls, just --- as I remember it --- weeks before altar girls got the OK. I felt rather undercut about it, to say the least.
18. There are, of course, various roles that women can perform in the liturgical assembly: these include reading the Word of God and proclaiming the intentions of the Prayer of the Faithful. Women are not, however, permitted to act as altar servers.
This instruction, prepared by the Sacred Congregation for the Sacraments and Divine Worship, was approved on April 17, 1980, by the Holy Father, John Paul II, who confirmed it with his own authority and ordered it to be published and to be observed by all concerned.
Hah! Good one.
The one who undercut you was our own Pope, who reversed himself under pressure.
It's the kind of thing that guarantees cynicism.
What’s even more regrettable is this:
>>”It is not permitted that the faithful should themselves pick up the consecrated bread and the sacred chalice, still less that they should hand them from one to another.”<<
>>- Pope John Paul II, Inaestimabile Donum (April, 1980) -<<
Regarding canonizations, a devil’s advocate would have had a field day with Pope John Paul II’s capitulations and reversals; but guess who abolished that position?
I can understand why Christ remained celibate. For the human race, it is an unnatural condition and may help account for the "issues" that have cropped up regarding children and homosexual deviancy. I would assume that the tendency to take a vow of celibacy might, in itself, indicate a repressed penchant for sexual issues.
If one can actual maintain said celibacy as an act of piety and purity, I concede that there is an "excellence" about it. I personally cannot relate to the concept and I can't help but wonder about those who profess to do so.
But, it's no skin off my nose. My original post was merely to say that the Bible doesn't dictate celibacy and allows for the fact that it may be too much a load, in which case the teacher should get married before indulging. The deal about trying to remain celibate is also followed up with the concession that it is a personal view and not handed down by the Holy Spirit like most of the New Covenant information. Have a blessed day.
So marriage is obligatory for all? Are they going to be allowed to finish high school first?
Getting married doesnt stop child molesters from molesting.
Matthew 19"For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it." [Jesus]
To the unmarried, and to the widows, I would say that they will do well to remain in the same state as myself, but if they have not the gift of continence, let them marry; better to marry than to feel the heat of passion...
...But I would have you to be without solicitude. He that is without a wife is solicitous for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please God. But he that is with a wife, is solicitous for the things of the world, how he may please his wife: and he is divided. And the unmarried woman and the virgin thinketh on the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit. But she that is married thinketh on the things of this world how she may please her husband. And this I speak for your profit, not to cast a snare upon you, but for that which is decent and which may give you power to attend upon the Lord without impediment.[St. Paul]
