A bishop who met with Pope Francis in a rare private audience on 4 April has said in an interview that the two men discussed the issue of the ordination of proven married men viri probati in a serious and positive way.

They also allow Holy Communion to be given to politicians who vote to murder babies.
Where were all the “wives” at the Last Supper?
If this goes through I'm going to wash my hands of the whole thing.
Don’t get me started on that. Married deacons, themselves, are a VC II novelty. They’d be the first to jump at this carrot. There’s already talk of lay women deacons; where do think that will lead to?
Hard to disagree.
That should carry a lot of weight, in my opinion.
Where were all the wives at the Last Supper?
I don’t know but the Bible says Peter was married.
Here is something else that should carry a lot of weight.
“This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;”
—1 Timothy 3:1-2
Paul seemed to believe marriage was just fine for bishops or overseers.
Here is something else Paul said regarding latter days apostates:
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”
That last quote of Paul’s, where did it come from?
“...but I understand it is a looong-running tradition that conservative Catholics to a large degree do not want to see undermined.”
True. On the other hand every single person of any faith that is all for things like abortion, ‘gay marriage,’ and priestesses is invariably of the opinion that the Latin Rite discipline of celibacy isn’t valuable and must be ended. At least I have never come across any. I don’t think it can possibly be a coincidence.

1 Timothy 4
And I do think that is largely due to the desire to see women as priests (something I don’t support). I think they see an end to the celibacy tradition as almost a portal to female priests.
Where were all the wives at the Last Supper?
Genesis 2
24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Mark 10
6
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
7
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
There, for you people who claim that more than one wife is an abomination I will use the very same scripture to show you that it is an abomination for a man not to have a wife.
It took a part of man to make woman so therefore a man is not a complete man with out the woman.
I think you are right. In their minds, if they get the discipline of celibacy relaxed it’s hard to picture the any lasting stand against any of the other things they really want.
Some folks are thinking it would end up like the Eastern Rites or Orthodox, and that works. But the liberals are thinking it would eventually end up something like the liberal wing Western-Euro Anglicans, that’s their shining standard as to what the Catholic Church should end up being. Some think the danger is that might be exactly what ends up happening.

What are the child molesters supposed to do for a living if their careers are stolen by normal people?
It amazes me that some of the Church leaders actually starts paying a little attention to what the Bible really says and then they catch hell for it.
Which means that the word of god has absolutely nothing to do with it.

What does he have to do with the Vatican’s pronouncements?
Yes, the slippery slope will kick in and next the homosexuals will want to be priests.
Can' turn out well.
but, but, they were speaking Ex Cathedra
I agree with your post - they should allow married men to be priests. I believe that some doctrine says that priests are representations of Christ who was unmarried and celibate. I forget the place in the Bible, but Peter says that teachers/priests should remain celibate, but if they couldn’t manage it, they should marry rather than have sex outside of marriage. He followed up with how it was his own opinion and not part of the Divinely inspired instructions that were also being passed on by the Holy Spirit. Other areas say that a teacher should be a married man in good standing, because if one could not manage his own family, he should not be trying to teach others how to manage their families. I’m not Catholic any more and never got into all the doctrines, but the Bible makes a pretty darn good reference.
