Could a Christian support abortion
opinion/mine | March 20 2014 | FriendofGeorge

How could a Christian support abortion, gay marriage and a Liberal anti Christian Supreme Court?

I am constantly attacked for my beliefs, seems lately from almost all sides. I see Christian Ministries that I have always admired softening their views on these issues, abortion, gay marriage, removal of God/Christ from public square etc.

In my opinion when a person votes Democrat, they are giving their OK to all these Anti Christian evils by also giving their OK to a liberal supreme court.

I am accused of judging all the time by offering this deep felt opinion. I just cant get my mind around a Christian voting for these anti Christian evils.

I challenge their claim that they are Christian when they argue in support of these evils.

Seems to me that many Ministries are going soft on all these issues, they are afraid to not offend anybody.

I cant find a single character in my Bible that ever played down our sins.

I am a sinner saved by grace myself, nothing more, I just cant get my mind around embracing these issues

This morning Pat Robertson had on TD Jakes, here`s a guy that admits he voted for Obama

I dont think we are showing love in the long run, when we give impression to children that the homosexual lifestyle is acceptable

And the idea that Jesus would be OK with abortion? Outrageous. We all know what Jesus would have done if there was a abortion clinic around when he walked the earth in the flesh.

And how does a Christian vote for a liberal supreme court? Knowing full well in advance that they will vote for everything non Christian under the sun

So I am being told by many that I am the bad guy, I am in the wrong, I am judging etc

Disillusion to be honest

You pinged me to tell me that?

I’m not really into personal chats.

No.

NB: If it’s wrong to vote against someone because of the color of their skin, it’s wrong to vote FOR someone because of the color of their skin.

I believe I have a Biblical right to have nothing to do with people that hold the opposite view, and I dont see that as judging.

That verse that people use about *Do not judge* is being misquoted and misused.

We are commanded to judge and we are not to fellowship with those who call themselves believers and live a sinful lifestyle.

If nobody did any judging, there would be no way to discern truth from error.

A couple things to consider.....First off, pointing out to someone what Scripture says, is NOT you judging them. The judgment has already been made by God.

The other thing is, that verse is most often trotted out to bludgeon people into submission with because the person doing the bludgeoning does NOT want to be told that they are wrong.

They think that by trotting out Scripture, they can silence the opposition because it must be listened to.

But *Thou shall not kill* is also Scripture.

They're hypocrites for picking and choosing what to listen to and not.

This is what Jesus says about judging...

John 7:24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

I guess that explains why there were thousands of Catholics at the Pro-Life march in Charlotte not long ago and extremely few non-Catholics. A whole lot of non-Catholics really wanted to be there but it was just too cold and it was a rainy day, and you know, renting a bus or carpooling is such a hassle, but they didn't stay away due to apathy, they stayed away due to the inconvenience of lifting a finger.

You know this how?

Were you there and personally interviewing people? And you went to the homes of those who were planning on coming but didn't to ask them as well?

So discouraging to see yet another thread degenerate into finger pointing and blame assigning.

It is but it was not ansel who started it.

See post 23 and talk to the party who started it.

“Seems to me that many Ministries are going soft on all these issues...”

On Sunday in Atlanta, my sister attended the “Christian” mega-church pastored by Andy Stanley, son of Charles Stanley. (Her son and wife go there, sadly.) Apparently, A. Stanley is pro gay marriage. Before the ‘08 election, he had Michelle Obama speak at the church. Dreadful.

“I am accused of judging all the time...”

Don’t let the accusors get you down. As Christians, we are supposed to judge, and are expected to. The verse they resort to, i.e., “Judge not, that ye be not judged”, is taken out of context. The responsibility of Christians to judge sin is a thread running through the Bible. Just read Proverbs.

Your accusors judge every day. They judge the people who want to date their kids. (No “sluts” for their sons; no abusive guys for their daughters.) They judge the sales people at the car dealership to choose the best person, or the one that doesn’t have bad breath. To find the preacher whose church they prefer, they judge the other pastors to rule them out. They judge people applying for jobs in the organization after doing background checks and checking references. So, it’s OK for them to judge, but not for you, and it’s always THEIR set of values on which everything is based.

So was it,
"It's a national disease of the spirit, not something limited to one group or another."

that you feel "started" something in #23, or was it

"Churches, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, are trying to fight a spiritual battle against principalities and powers with the tools of this world . . ." ?

It must have been my having the gall to mention Baptists in number 23, right? Well, I'm so sorry the wife and I only visited two Methodist churches and a single Lutheran which all sucked and didn't constitute a reasonable sample. We visited twenty-six Baptist churches, though, nineteen SBC, which I did consider a significant sample size within the 50 mile driving radius we set for our limit. I'm so sorry reality doesn't meet with your approval.

Reading something into posts that isn't there is a sure sign of someone who is so stewed in their own venom and agenda that they can no longer see straight.

I couldn’t care less if you mentioned Baptist churches.

Or Lutheran, or Methodist, or any other denomination.

“Pretty crazy”

I’m glad you get it! Yes it is crazy. You’d think they’d be on our side. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Just makes me wonder who’s side they are on. Like the poster of this thread has stated a lot of denominations have gone south. This is one prime example. Or am I wrong?

ROTFLMAO.

Yes, when someone reads things that aren't there into the posts of others they are indeed projecting their bias.

You can always catch them at it by asking which portion of the post in question contains what they imply or claim is there.

Now let me see, Oh, you didn't answer my question, did you?

LOL. While people stewing in their own hate are very sad and self-destructive, they are on occasion just as funny as Heck. Thanks for the laugh.

OH NO ,And I thought Charles Stanley was one of the good guys, he must be aware of what his son is saying.

So there goes another one, very sad.

Agreed, but I wanted to see if people still shared the proper Biblical view, being some what of a shut in now.

So I am encouraged a bit by the responses
