Ever hear of the Immaculate Conception? I doubt that you would believe it. But Mary was chosen by God to be sinless so that she could carry the sinless Jesus in her womb. She is the Ark of the New Covenant.

Yeah, heard it's Roman Catholic dogma not "dogmatically" defined until December 8, 1854, by Pope Pius IX in his papal bull Ineffabilis Deus. Hard to believe something based solely on the say so of a Pope nearly two thousand years AFTER the Apostles are all dead, but which is found NOWHERE in the Bible.

In truth, Mary didn't NEED to be sinless in order to bear Jesus in her womb. His sinlessness was based on Him being GOD, not by being born to someone sinless first. In fact, IF Mary was sinless, why didn't SHE die for our sins instead of Jesus? There's a serious question for you. Here's another, if God "chose" Mary to be sinless in order to bear Christ, did she have any choice in the matter? She NEVER sinned, according to this dogma, even way before she was of age to become a mother. Did God not give her a choice in the matter? If she had said, no, would God retroactively make her a sinner like every other human being? Can you see the can of worms such a doctrine opens up when the simple truth was that Mary was "highly favored" by God for her piety and faith, she was of the right lineage from King David and she said yes to God?

I don’t go by extra-biblical sources. If one believes in the God of the Holy Bible then one should consider whether or not he/she believes God would or would not make sure that His people would find within it everything essential for salvation and knowledge of Him. If they think it’s not so...then go ahead and believe in the Immaculate conception and whatever else the church has to say.

I’m not denying there are mysteries of God that we cannot know in this body. But for a church organization to decide what one of the mysteries is and present it as “fact” it’s as if they believe they have been given special knowledge, but offer no proof, no basis, nothing in which they can point to in God’s word itself. How is this different than any other modern day “prophet” or cult?
