Papacy / Hierarchy in the Bible
http://thechurchofchristiscatholic.com ^

The following outline shows that Jesus intended to create a holy, visible Church; complete with a prime minister, a hierarchy, binding authority, and perpetuity—the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

It is important for Protestants to understand some basic facts. Contrary to the modern belief that the Bible is a “blueprint” or “textbook” which explains how a church should be structured, it is a product of the Catholic Church—a compilation of writings that reflect a structure that was already present. As such, the “Bible alone” has no reason to provide fine details of proper ecclesiology; however, proper ecclesiology is detectable. Shortly after Jesus’ resurrection, the Catholic Church wrote lots of letters. The Catholic Church discerned which of those letters were inspired. By the end of the fourth century (Councils of Hippo A.D. 393 and Carthage A.D. 397) the Catholic Church finalized the “table of contents” of the Scriptures and called the entire body of writing “the Bible”. In other words, the Bible would not even exist if the popes and the hierarchy did not exist.

...But fail to take into account that Catholics don’t subscribe to sola scriptura (which contradicts itself by not being in the bible), rendering the points in question moot.

Wyrd, certain Johnny-come-latelies are clearly determined to deny basic civility. I don't think there is much else to be said.

There isn't much you can do for unnamed, unhinged noobs except pray for them.

Another look at the picture of soon to be SAINT JOHN PAUL THE GREAT, looking at the Koran. Show me a picture of him kissing it and we can debate why he did.

I like it when desperate Papists project their incivility on to others. It’s part of their overall denial of reality.

The link to that passage in the CCC is this from the Vatican itself.

It’s interesting to see who’s poorly catechized after all.

Heck, not only is any pope not mentioned.

ROME isn’t even mentioned.

Quite a glaring oversight by Jesus, would it not be?

Nowhere (in the Bible) is the church exhorted to look to Peter as its supreme infallible head.

Please read about the Council of Jerusalem. St. Peter was the speaker, then others took action.

Sal, that is just the manner of absurd wresting of Scripture that RCs imagine actually proves or supports their desired conclusion. The fact is that rather than Peter being looked to as giving the fallible decree as to what should be done, then people going into action, he gave his testimony and holy two sentence exhortation, then Barnabas and Paul also gave testimony and but it was James, the leader of the church at Jerusalem, "after they had held their peace," that gave the definitive 170 word conclusive statement on what should be done, confirming and adding to what Peter held, to which all concurred (not just a special class of clergy), and went into action.

And which is not the way Rome would write it, or examples, and thus as i said in the refutation sasportas was referring to, such is at least is evidence that Rome did change the Bible to support here, but which lack of testimony is why Rome employed the use forgeries to support her pretensions.

FOTFLOL!!!!!

First Catholics tried to snow everyone by claiming that it was a Bible.

Now he's just looking at it?

What is he? Blind as a bat or something.

He KISSED it and that has been verified.

Points for trying.

It's endlessly amusing trying to guess what the next excuse is for trying to deny what he did.

Like liberals, Protestants obfuscate obfuscate obfuscate.

Actually that is what i see RCs doing, and indeed they embrace victimhood while they yet continue to attack..

I, on the other hand, suspect that Protestant sense that they are taking beating.

That is ignorance, or perhaps wishful thinking, as i can show you thread after thread in which RCs are refuted or have no answer, while posting assertions as arguments.

As for "this trash," scrolling down through the RF's March offerings, there have been 2-3 threads each posted by a Catholic/Protestant concerning the other.

This ignorance explains the former, as i know of the below myself since 3-2:

As for that passage from the Catechism, I've never encountered it in my Bishop Morrow Catechism.

Papists always pick and choose what they want to believe

And find a way to avoid what the CCC teaches, by interpreting it as need be, or as here by relying on catechism by one man (Imprimatur 1937), while RCs keep pointing us to the latest CCC was the authoritative truth.

Catholics do not try to convince you to change your ways (Proselytize). We merely post the truth and ask you to consider it.

Riiight... like the opening paragraph of this thread says:

It is important for Protestants to understand some basic facts....

It then proceeds to tell "Protestants" how wrong they are for not joining the Roman Catholic religion. It doesn't take a linguist to know what is being attempted here. The long knives come out whenever a non-Catholic Christian "considers" what is posted and tries to dispute it. Please, spare us the concern.

No where did anyone say “You’ve got to do this or that to be saved.”

As I said previously....just the facts are posted. We don’t try to manhandle you into Catholicism like many protestants have tried to manhandle me into believing in protestant heresies.

There is nothing man alone can do to convert people to the Catholic Church.

We can only present the absolute truth of her teachings and leave the rest up to the Holy Spirit.

ROME isn’t even mentioned.

True, the primacy of Rome would not have been mentioned, as the writing of Revelation (late first century) was about five hundred years before the Bishop of Rome exalted himself over all.

On your point 5, everybody - except our befuddled preterists - knows Revelation was written late in the first century. This gives time for the alleged successors of Peter to have been well known in the churches everywhere.

The reality is that as said, the Holy Spirit simply does not testify to the papal primacy promoted by Rome.
