The following outline shows that Jesus intended to create a holy, visible Church; complete with a prime minister, a hierarchy, binding authority, and perpetuitythe one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
It is important for Protestants to understand some basic facts. Contrary to the modern belief that the Bible is a blueprint or textbook which explains how a church should be structured, it is a product of the Catholic Churcha compilation of writings that reflect a structure that was already present. As such, the Bible alone has no reason to provide fine details of proper ecclesiology; however, proper ecclesiology is detectable. Shortly after Jesus resurrection, the Catholic Church wrote lots of letters. The Catholic Church discerned which of those letters were inspired. By the end of the fourth century (Councils of Hippo A.D. 393 and Carthage A.D. 397) the Catholic Church finalized the table of contents of the Scriptures and called the entire body of writing the Bible. In other words, the Bible would not even exist if the popes and the hierarchy did not exist.

Lol! The extinction of Christianity has also been predicted many times over, but the Lord knows his own, and moral relativism will not stop His work of grace in human hearts no matter how many fallible human institutions collapse along the way.
Indeed, most of the denominational fissures our RC friends love to point to as evidence of disunity are in fact conservatives parting ways with relativists. The pattern is strong. The libs infest the leadership, stage a coup, steal the property (buildings, assets, etc), forcing the conservatives to regroup under new labels. But they remain conservatives, part of the long stream of faithful souls who trust God and believe in his absolute truths. God has no trouble keeping track of who these folks are, even if they present a problem to us mortals, who of course would rather have a human institution in place to clearly define who’s in and who’s not.
So no, those who “protest” corruption in the Church (aka “protest-ant”) will be here all the way to the end of days. Their “protest” is animated by their love for God and every word that proceeds from His mouth. They cannot cease from the earth until the Bride of Christ is evacuated from earth at the return of Christ. At that time it will be clear. But for now, not even the angels dare to separate the wheats from the tares. That is God’s work. I think its best left to Him.
In that spirit, I’ll make no predictions about the future of the various institutional churches 88 years from now. I will say this. I hope none of them remains, but that by then Jesus shall have returned and put all these vain disputings behind us, and we shall be glorified and giving glory to Him in the company of angels for eternity to come.
I don't mean this in any argumentative way. First, I want to answer your request. Second, I am interested in telling you how I see this doctrine being supported biblically. Thanks for listening.
So far as "proving" a teaching like "sola scriptura", it is first made difficult for the same reason "proving" the "Trinity" is difficult. There is no place in the bible where the word "trinity" is used. So, we must establish that we are looking at scripture that teaches what we mean by "trinity" when we set out to prove the doctrine of the trinity. The same with "sola scriptura". We are looking for scripture that demonstrates that we are to have scripture be the authority on matters of faith and practice.
First, there is this:
- Ephesians 2: 19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
- The passage attests that Christ is the chief cornerstone and then comes the apostles and prophets.
Next there is this:
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for [b]training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."
- Scripture that we have comes to us from God, the ultimate authority.
Next, we learn that God inspired the writers of old, the prophets:
- 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
- In other words, we just covered the prophets message. It comes to us from God, so it is authoritative.
Next we deal with the apostles
- 2 Peter 3: even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest , as they do also the other scriptures,
- Here Peter places writings with Apostolic writings at the same level as other scripture, so Apostolic writings are also authoritative
- John 17: 20"I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
- In this passage Jesus makes the message of the Apostles authoritative
So, In sum, we have the early Church testifying that Scripture is the word of the prophets and apostles, that it is authoritative, AND that their message is the FOUNDATION.
This makes it clear that scripture is the authority in all matters of faith and practice.
As I said, my purpose is not argument. My purpose is to tell you, a long time friend, how I see things. Thanks again for listening.
John 10:
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.
Wow.
Ask for evidence and it’s like throwing holy water on a vampire...
Try reading your Bible. Evidence contained therein.
This from Romans who burned Tyndale at the stake for the grevious crime of publishing the Bible in English? Actually they WANTED to burn him, they relented and strangled him at the stake instead. A Roman, no less, telling non-Romans to read their Bibles? Give me a break.
Good luck with THAT!!!
“Try reading your Bible. Evidence contained therein.”
This is also a logical fallacy that presumes upon another source, without providing actual evidence.
I’ve asked repeatedly for you to post evidence. What is the problem? It appears you do not have any actual evidence.
Why, Friend? You made huge claims. It appears to be all hat and no cattle. Please back them up with something.
Also, waiting for NKP_Vet’s official list of “catholic haters at FR” and links to their hate.
Also, waiting for NKP_Vet’s official list of “protestant heresies”.
Also, waiting for so, so much more that you have never provided.
Perhaps you could start with your truth claim that the doctrine of the sufficiency and authority of Scripture for salvation, maturity and all doctrine - Sola Scriptura - is a heresy.
Acts 17:11
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
...they searched the TRADITIONS daily...
And just WHAT gets constructed on a FOUNDATION???

Because almost 2,000 years have passed from the time it was written until now and I daresay that none of the original writers are still alive today to tell us what they meant.
And unless you can absolutely, positively guarantee that what was passed down was passed down faithfully, then after 2,000 years, one person's interpretation is as good as another.
Being 2.000 years removed does not guarantee anything, much less any special ability to interpret something *correctly*.
The line of reasoning fails.
I'll bet she sounds like an advertiser; trying to cram a 10 second disclaimer into a 2.7 second time slot!
All good scripture. Thanks.
I organized those I thought spoke directly to my intent.
????
You've the qualifications of MormonISM's Living Prophet®!!!
In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet, for our salvation depends on them.
1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say Thus Saith the Lord, to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by mens reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidencythe highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidencythe living prophet and the First Presidencyfollow them and be blessedreject them and suffer.
I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captainhow close do our lives harmonize with the Lords anointedthe living ProphetPresident of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.
