-— *Mother of God* does not say or mean the same thing as *Mother of Jesus*. -—

Jesus is God, as you know. And Mary was, and is, His Mother.

Obviously, Mary was not the mother of Jesus’ eternal nature.

This really isn’t difficult to understand.

The argument is just a silly anti-Catholic canard, like “call no man father.” Most proponents of this objection seem to be unaware of the fact that they call their own fathers, “father,” and that Jesus also tells us to “call no man teacher.” Clearly Jesus is using hyperbole to make a point.

"OBVIOUSLY"

When Mary is called the *mother of GOD* that is EXACTLY what is being said and taught.

No, he's not using hyperbole.

In the context in which Jesus is speaking, He is telling others not to call RELIGIOUS leaders *father* or *teacher*, which is clearly what Catholicism violates.

True man and true God = Jesus

Truly human and truly divine = Jesus

Mary was the mother of both natures of Christ! *With the help of the Holy Spirit, of course!*

Mat 23:7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
Mat 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
Mat 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Mat 23:10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
Mat 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

It is no canard, but rather deadly serious. 'Master', 'Rabbi', and 'Father' are the signatory offices of religious officials... Following on from the very beginning of the chapter where He strips the Pharisees of their authority, in *perfect context*, he is removing hierarchical authority from ALL.

There is only ONE Father ABOVE, and ONE Master and Teacher of His disciples - Yeshua Himself. ALL men are but brethren.

It has nothing at all to do with a familial father.

CONTEXT, man.
