Religion is politics, politics is religion.
This whole thing (which I have heard about on FOX) really p8sses me off, grinds my gears so to speak.
The Catholic church keeps its lips tight on the homosexual agenda, avoiding it whenever possible, and fails to bar politicians who support infanticide all for the whole schtick of ‘not being political’, yet now they have certain priests shilling for amnesty. I’m aware it is not all of them, and many won’t be taking part in this crap, but the double standard irks me.
walk out...quietly and respectfully..but walk out. That’s what I would do.
I sympathize. Much will depend on which diocese you’re in.
Seems that if your priest/pastor is preaching about supporting breaking the law, then he is not preaching Biblical principles, why go.
Well I would stand up and say”I need a job first”very loud and then sit down.Have I done this stuff before. You bet your Bippie.
Not going, need to keep my blood pressure at normal levels!
I agree that you should walk out, but I don’t believe that you should be entirely respectful. I’m not saying you should start screaming or anything, but you should leave in a way that everyone notices.
Go tonight. Avoid the annoyance.
On the other hand we just returned from our Vigil Mass which was said by the most liberal priest in our parish. Not a word about immigration, although we did pray at the beginning of the Mass for peace in Syria and throughout the world.
For reference, I'm in the Philadelphia archdiocese.
What good is a government that caters to foreigners over its own citizenry?
>> I will simply get up and walk out of church.
Might be time to consider a switch to a congregation that follows Scripture.
Keep in mind that not all mainstream Protestant churches have gone over to the dark side — and most evangelicals *certainly* haven’t. In spite of what the Catholics would have you believe, we worship the same GOD ALMIGHTY, believe in the same JESUS His only begotten Son (”the same yesterday, today, and forever”), we’re all saved by grace through faith for a purpose, and you won’t burn in hell for worshipping Him with us instead of absorbing the left-wing pap your communist priest lays out. :-)
Just sayin’. And FRegards.
Its up to you of course, but Catholic homilies at mass usually aren’t very long and your presence there is for the purpose of prayer, so you can light a candle for the priest and say a prayer instead of listening intently to the message and letting your blood pressure go ballistic.
Of course you can always go to a foreign language mass near your residence, and let the whole message go over your head.
Not sure what Diocese you’re in, but you could always go to a Mass where the Mass/homily is in a language you don’t understand..
I’ve done that before by going to the Spanish Mass, but I will admit not liking the hymns, despite having no idea, except for Senor, what they are saying.
I left a parish back in the mid 70’s when a priest said he didn’t want to hear any change hitting the collection basket.
What would Jesus do?
It is one thing for a priest to provide biblical reference to current events, and quite another to take a political stand.
Priest are human beings and they are not infallible.
That’s all I have to say for now.
"Philosophy is the goal toward which religion was only a helplessly blind groping. The grandeur, the reverence, the exalted purity, the austere dedication to the pursuit of truth, which are commonly associated with religion, should belong to the field of philosophy."
The quote is from Ayn Rand
Ignore it. The important part is the changing of water into wine and the bread into Christ’s body. Catholics generally give lousy homilies.
