That is a climatic/agricultural issue. If the barley is not ready, they insert the extra month. They must have Aviv barley for “First Fruits.”

So the intercalary month makes the date come later seaonally? ad this drops back until another 2nd Adar is needed, I suppose?

I am confused, I had a (Jewish) instructor in college that was telling us that it had to do with the Jewish calender having 12 months of 29/30 days and that the extra month was inserted every 6 years. And then every 18 years they inserted and extra time period. He said it had to do with the flooding of the Nile. I don't recall all of the details and it has been 20+ years since I had Dr. Waxman.
