As an old-fashioned, 50s type Catholic, I don’t even read the Bible. (Put your eyebrows back on!) But I do pray to my favorite saints, one of whom includes Jehanne and Francis of Assisi.

So why do you pray to other people instead of the Lord Jesus Christ Son of God who died for your sins?

As a 50s type Catholic I assume you read Catholic produced doctrine.

Didn’t you attack me earlier for rejecting contraception?

You may not read the Bible directly, but you listen to Scripture, and ponder it, every time you attend Mass. In a three year cycle of readings, you will have listened to much of God’s Word, and, it is hoped, have heard homilies about those Scripture passages.
So you DO listen to Scripture, you just may not read it, as some on FR do.

Interesting. My dad was a Baptist preacher in the ‘50s in a small town. He and the town’s R.C. priest were very friendly. I recall that R.C. friends were forbidden to read the Bible. When Dad asked Fr. George why that was, Fr. George said, “Because they might learn something.” He wasn’t kidding. I never forgot that.
