You don’t agree with what scripture says? How telling!

Matthew 6:6-13 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

---

Luke 18:11-13 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

----

John 14:13-16 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

---

Jesus gives quite a few examples of prayer. In the Lord's Prayer He provides us the instruction that when we pray - it is to "Our Father." At no point is there ever a reference to praying to any saint. Moses, David, Abraham, Solomon, Daniel, Elijah, Ezekiel - all prayed to God. Never to a saint.

Jesus clearly tells us - Pray to the Father - in Jesus' Name.

If the saints answered prayer there would never be any reason to pray to God. God and God alone answers prayers. God is omnipotent; not saints. All power comes through God and no one else.

Exodus 20:3 Thou shall have no other gods before me.

The problem comes in from the widespread misunderstanding by Catholics of what the church really is.

The body Jesus promised to build is NOT a denomination.

It’s an organism, not an organization.

I do not agree on your use of scripture to bash another believer!

It is God who answers the prayers, the saints who are home with God pray to God as well on behalf of the living believers.

If I ask, “what is the Church of God”. You should at least be able to give me an example of one.

If of course you and CB actually attend one.

If scriptural correction is bashing in your mind I can’t do anything about that. I suppose you should stay with those who “tickle your ears”.

It is rather a family tree and a community of faith.

It’s an organism, not an organization.

Jesus commanded us to take our disputes "to the church."

If His Church is not visible and identifiable, then His command would be void.

But His commands cannot be void.

“If the saints answered prayer there would never be any reason to pray to God.”

Why do you believe this? Who taught you this? You don’t understand how intercession works. We are commanded to pray for one another.

The headline begs the question, "Where in the Bible does it say that 'the Bible alone' is the sole rule of faith?"

And where are the words, "trinity", "pope", "eucharist", "sacrament", to name a few?

Oh but it is “visible and identifiable”. Maybe you just don’t recognize it?

We ask living Christian believers to pray to God for us, so it is not wrong to ask those who have gone home to God to pray to God on our behalf as well.

Wrong because we can ask other living on this planet believers to pray for us without having to do it through the spiritual realm. We can do it by means of physically talking to them, or writing them notes. We do not have to do it outside the physical realm.

Those whose bodies have died are not accessible by physical means, but must be contacted through spiritual means in the spiritual realm.

THAT is what we are forbidden to do.

Good grief. Do you have a serious problem with reading comprehension or do you intentionally obfuscate? You asked ““what is the Church of God”. I respond that I gave you examples and then you come back and ask “What, you gave me a phone number?” I’m beginning to think it’s futile to try to have an adult conversation with you.
