We should fight against wild capitalism and confront social injustice, expressed the official in a press release.
“”What does “wild capitalism” even mean?””
Here is a clue
Bedtime for me
I wish everyone a Blessed Evening
From ffrf.org we have this ... <>PDeclaration of Independence
On this date in 1776, Thomas Jefferson’s “Declaration of Independence” was adopted, after a vote approving it on July 2. Its secular purpose was to “dissolve the political bands,” and it inaugurated the anti-biblical idea that “governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” Jefferson was a Deist who was highly critical of Christianity, and whose revolutionary document made references to a “Nature’s God.”
Different story. There are also stories of wealthy, and faithful people in the Bible. And numerous examples in modern-day life; both in the news, and among those we know.
The “blessed are the poor” quote grates on me when it is cut short like you did. The same with the “money is the root of all evil” quote when it picks up mid-sentence. (Leaving off the “Love of money...”)
I read the article, and nothing is elaborated on.
This is what capitalism produces
This man is truly following in the footsteps of Christ!GAG!
Here's your Catholic word for the day:
HYPOCRITES!
I would think he should be more concerned with molestations in the church...but since I haven't seen any of his comments on the daily barrage of Catholicism here who knows what he really thinks about that?
The US elected Obama and the US will NEVER elect a capitalist ever again. Its over!
FWIW- I despise Obama!
Good Night
Yikes... A communist pope?
Maybe him and reverend Wright should get together for some drinks.
It is a system of social production for social consumption.
What is befalling our society is different. It is a materialistic philosophy similar in nature to Marx's. Scientists (and economists) never state what man should aim for, but only what he should do if he wants to attain his stated ends. If he wishes more churches and bibles to be produced, then market prices will reflect such things.
That evil is present in capitalism is due to the fact that man is evil.
Well said.
You said....””That evil is present in capitalism is due to the fact that man is evil. “”
You have bought into the lie
From the late Blessed Bishop Fulton Sheen..
Then the dream changed into a nightmare because our assumptions were all wrong. The dream was a reaction against European religious thought at the time of our Founding Fathers that man is intrinsically wicked. But the great religious traditions of the age never taught that man was evil, but only that his intellect was darkened and his will weakened by rebellion against God. Hence, newly found America could not be a Paradise where man could dream of unbounded wealth. Man is a weak creature whether you put him in a new United States or on the moon. But the silly notion that he is a god and America is a paradise is like trying to place a marble bust on the stem of a rose.
Politicians during election time, capitalists who have made quick fortunes in oil and psychologists who blame environment rather than an evil will for the drug anti-culture still subscribe to the American Dream. And by doing so, they contribute to the Nightmare which we are now entering.
The more you build up the expectations of a boy about the pleasure he will get from a toy, the angrier he will be when the toy breaks down. Telling youth that America is greening only angers them when they find it browning in the Winter of its discontent. Unbounded pride or what the Greek dramatist called Hubris, has in the second act brought a judgment and in the third act a fear of Ate or disaster.
In this Hour of Frustration when we transfer 125 billion dollars a year to the oil producing nations, which is equal to the entire farm crop of the U.S. in one year; when over eight per cent of the population is unemployed; when our manners become crude and only our gasoline refined; when we have the feeling we have touched the Last Frontier and yet unlike mice in a maze keep knocking our heads against it; when we are forced to get along with less when all these evidences of a broken dream are upon us, some try to drug the public conscience by telling them that Progress is still with us provided: First, we get rid of God; second, we preserve the right to climb into any bed; and third, that we be allowed to make money by pornography.
What has happened is for the best. We have learned that a mans greatness does not depend on what he has, but on the recognition of limits. The moment we discover discipline, or the ability to limit our ego, our greatness surpasses anything in the past.
-- Fulton J. Sheen
Although it’s obviously moot at this point, is this a Catholic Caucus thread or not?
Yes, it is. It has “Catholic Caucus” in the title.
Thank you.
.
This is what anti-capitalism produces:
“Although its obviously moot at this point, is this a Catholic Caucus thread or not?”
It would not surprise me that people who call themselves Catholic reject this since they commit sacrilege in the fashion of Coumo Pelosi, Biden and others
Ayn Rand
Powerful.
Oh, man; have you stepped in it.
Liberation Theology and Marxist leanings will NOT do you well on Free Republic. And I don’t care whether the broad Jesuit arse occupying the Papal throne is currently advocating it.
The First Beatitude: “And seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain, and when He was set down, His disciples came unto Him. And opening His mouth, He taught them, saying: Blessed are the poor IN SPIRIT; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5: 1-3
What’s a` matter with you? This misunderstanding is of recent phenom, spurred by a conscientious perversion of the meaning of the verse by Marxist infiltrators beginning in the 20th century. Between homosexuals and Marxists the Church is being trashed and subverted!
Most people read this verse and see the words blessed and poor and think that Jesus is saying that poor people are morally superior to rich people. You can see why Marxists love it.
Jesus isn’t teaching that poor people are superior to others. Far from it. What He is saying is that a person who is uses money like a tool, doesn’t value it above doing what it right and just and is willing to push their chips all-in, to use a poker metaphor, is truly blessed. So, given this, ANYONE within the wealth spectrum, rich or poor, can possess this virtue.
You got it now?
