Thank you all for your information/suggestions. My husband, Tom, tried to speak with him one time but that didn't work out; he'll try again. This priest, however, has written similarly, and showed his support (via the bulletin) for an elected female cardinal. He also did nothing to discourage voting Obama, and in fact, came across as a supporter.

He's older and is planning on retiring in less than a year and the faithful at the parish think he's trying to "get everything out" that he believes while he can and that no one will stop him because he's soon leaving. It's discouraging as I mentioned because he's a very popular priest; I've been there before when there's standing room only for his Masses.
