Halla the puppy has crashed
Saturday, she fell hard while playing in the yard with Gypsy and then on Sunday, bonked her head on the airline crate beside our bed while playing fetch with hubby.
I did not see that happen but he said she yelped and shook her head for quite some time.
Got back from the e-vet a bit ago and she is still out of it. They gave her Rimadyl and Pregalabin to take. She is on the bed, just lying there in a daze.
Her already iffy vision seems to be worse, whether from hitting her head and 'reactivating' her previous head injury [one vet theory] or if her reticence to play lately has been her eyes getting worse.
She does better in the yard than in the house. [vet thinks her strabismus gives a frontal/close focus 'blind spot']
We are told to go to the dog neuro.
Tonight cost us nearly $600 so I'm freaking out about what a specialist will cost.
I don't know if CareFirst will up our limit or not but we don't have whole lot in reserve, there, now.
I just don't know what happened.
She went from running in the yard to drooling uncontrollably and head weaving in minutes.
"Wobblers" was suggested but x-rays looked good and her CBC was pretty near perfect [a few little high/little low readings that the vet was not concerned about]
I have never seen anything like this except for my Ibizan who almost surely died from undiagnosed Lyme. [the pup has also been put on Doxy, just in case]
It could be a concussion or something much worse.
My heart is breaking.
I went through such hell for her as a baby and I thought we were slowly, steadily catching up but then this.
Between hubby's 3x bypass, 3 deceased dogs, 1 deceased dad and our business collapsing, I just don't have any strength left.
I just want to die.
Please pray for my baby girl
She is only 7 months old and I dearly want her to grow old with me.
Ping the prayer warriors and puppy people, please!
Oh no! Sounds serious.
Could she have eaten something she shouldn’t have?
This dog person is pulling for your little guy. Keep us posted.
Salamander, you’ve got my prayers and good wishes for the whole array of everything that’s going badly. For people and pets, Blessed Pope John Paul II, pray for everyone!
Prayers Up Salamander. Sorry to hear this. I know God does perform miracles on his animals too. My father would pray for our Lab when he had seizures and he prayed over our Chickens. Animals are God’s precious creatures and is a gift to us.
Prayers for Halla & you Salamder!
Prayers up for you!
Prayers up, God’s Love...
Prayers for little Halla.
Lord, please send Saint Francis to care for her. You said All Creation Lord and she is Your creation. Watch over her and have mercy. I ask this in Jesus Holy Name.
Saint Francis will watch over her as he did my Hannah. Keep the faith.
This dog owner and animal lover is praying for your little guy..please keep us posted..we are all praying for you
Not really likely.
Her stomach x-rays showed an empty belly and no blockages or anything else amiss, either.
Sounds like concussion in a dog.
Keep an eye on her, we’ll be praying.
My thanks to everybody...I’m running back and forth watching over her and checking in here so please don’t think I’m not replying if I take a while or don’t reply to every person individually.
I’m so worried about her that I can’t help but hover over her, watching.
It’s a bit hectic, here.
Prayers for you both.
Prayers for you, Salamander, and your puppy.
I *hope and pray* that’s all it is.
She’s gotten through a terrible one before but back then, she was only 4 weeks old and not very mobile yet so it was hard to judge whether she really feeling awful or not.
She barely even had her eyes open, let alone being able to run around and play.
She was in dire straits from that concussion, I know and I’m hoping that this is just a milder one.
