In a segment titled God and Hitler, Gordon Robertson (son of Rev. Pat Robertson), hosted a discussion on the Catholic Churchs response to Hitler. Several errors of fact were made.
1) It is wrong to paint Hitler as a Catholic. Though he was baptized, he excommunicated himself, latae sententiae, when he sought, in his words, to crush [the Catholic Church] like a toad. He made good on his pledge by persecuting 8,000 priests, over 500 of whom were killed in concentration camps. He also sought to assassinate the pope.
2) The 1933 Nazi-Vatican Concordat was not a show of solidarity. As Rabbi David Dalin has shown, it was a protective measure designed to protect German Catholics from persecution. In fact, at least 34 letters of protest were sent from the Vatican to the Nazis between 1933 and 1937, culminating in a 1937 encyclical that condemned Nazi violations of the Concordat and its racial ideology. It was smuggled out of Italy and distributed on Palm Sunday to Catholics in Germany. Nothing like this happened in Protestant churches in Germany.
3) It is not true that Hitler met resistance from Protestants alone. There are 800,000 trees planted in Israel that represent the 800,000 Jews saved by the Catholic Church. None have been planted as a tribute to Protestants. During the war, the New York Times twice said the Church was a lonely voice crying out of the silence of a continent; Albert Einstein also singled out the Church during the war. After the war, Golda Meir praised the work of the Church, as did the ADL, the World Jewish Congress, and scores of other Jewish organizations.
4) It is factually wrong to say the Vatican archives have never been seen. Many scholars have had access. As for Pope Pius XII being Hitlers Pope, it should be noted that John Cornwell, the ex-seminarian who originated this term, retracted it years ago. So why does The 700 Club continue to cite it?
Peter was not the most prominent of the disciples. Aside from the other things in my other post, he did not write more than two books included in in the NT.
The other disciples certainly didn’t give Peter the deference Catholics today claim he had.
How many times is Peter’s name in the Bible?
How many times are all the other original apostle’s names in the Bible?
Even on Resurrection morning, John deferred to Peter to inspect Christ’s tomb first.
Please check your Bible on my questions. I’ll wait for your answers.
**and James was the head of the Council at Jerusalem in Acts 15.**
I believe that might be a non-Catholic belief. Peter did the speaking and was in charge of the Council of Jerusalem.
What part of JESUS saying - He OBEYS The Father and only does what His Father tells Him and sees His Father doing - escapes you? What part of His praying to His Father escapes you? And His children do the same - we HEAR and OBEY.
Actions appropriate to God are not appropriate to us.
WOW! Catholics totally don't understand THE WORD. Not surprised though - the very reason I left the counterfeit church because they are not following Christ - to do as HE did. They are following 'man' because that's all they know and what they deem appropriate because they know man but don't know JESUS. Rome is a worldly organization and no one needs the Faith of God to follow 'man made teachings' as they aren't a 'new creation' but the old man of darkness.
Those who follow JESUS use the Faith of God which is supernatural and only they are pleasing to God. For without His supernatural Faith - no one is pleasing to God. The apostles used the faith of God but it took them 3 years to understand they needed to drop the natural sense when it came to understanding the things of God. And through all their ups and downs - they 'got it' and forever have we been blessed by The Word to know it as they were the first to 'do the things' as Jesus did.
Because we are all created in the image of God, God exists in all of us.
God created all - He is Our Creator. And then sin/evil entered in and only when one accepts JESUS as their Savior and believe it in their heart and confess it with their mouth that Jesus is their Lord - can they bring forth 'the image of God' - until then they are still the children of the dark.
We are called to love each other and to forgive every trespass and transgression as a demonstration of our love for the God within.
That is impossible for the children of the dark for they are nothing without Christ! They get easily offended when 'The Word' is spoken as satan runs when the name of Jesus is spoken - as Jesus is The Word. So evil/man had to counteract Jesus/The Word with 'another word' so as to deceive, to capture anyone he could with 'man made teachings' to oppose Jesus The Word.
God hates evil and man made teachings that are designed to void HIS WORD are evil. There would be no need for 'man made teachings' BUT to deceive! What 'man' calls anger is of a natural sense - 'man made believers' don't understand when God shows anger it is out of love and for them to step out of their darkness - but all they can say/think is that they are offended and that's satan hold on them - for they belong to him through man made teachings.
What do you think people do when attacked by satan with 'any of his deception' - do they say 'Dear Satan, would you please leave me alone, play nice'? Jesus gave His Spirit to HIS church (Acts) so now I USE that power of the Holy Spirit within and as Jesus was - so am I. And I will say to hypocrites that they are hypocrites any day, and deny anything that is not of God to leave. So if anyone is offended - I let them be offended as they are 'of another' and chose to be - for Jesus The Word came in the flesh to give them LIFE and they rejected HIM/The Word and were captured by satan for his word/'man made teachings'.
Jesus is Love, Jesus is The Word. NO ONE has the love of God within them without THE WORD written on their heart.
So 'man made believers' does not have the love of God within them and are easily offended when Truth is spoken as evil hates Truth. They need to tear out that evil by the roots and have no desire to be used by satan every again! Many have done it - as all things are possible to those that believe in GOD alone for only HE is Truth.
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Eph 6:12
And satan and his spiritual forces of evil were/still are exposed - but JESUS THE WORD defeated evil/satan at The Cross.
And, now....
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave HIMSELF for me."
Thank You, JESUS! Praise God!
He is the most prominent disciple in the four gospels and in the first part of Acts. One cannot try to dramatize the events in the Gospels and not see this. Case in point is the most recent dramatization in The Bible.”
Please stop attempting to read my mind.
Verse 19 appears to be missing in your Bible, Salvation.
Not surprised you would see one 'man' as more important as another. It comes from man made teachings.
So let me introduce you to JESUS The Word and what HE says. After all, you will be judged you by HIS WORD. "Blessed rather are those who HEAR the Word of God and OBEY it."
And the apostles did hear Jesus and obeyed Him - as we are also commanded to do. So don't take someone's 'assignment from God' and judge who is greater! That is 'man's' thinking which leads into error.
NOW, who do you think could possibly be a successor of GOD? What god do you know can ever succeed The ONE who always was and always will be, The Almighty God? Who would dare claim to be His successor?
It is refreshing to read that is on your mind!
You are hoping by your own lights to decide the will of God. But the results from private interpretation do not suggest you will be successful. You say :a, the next fellow says not a. Do you live as holy a life as St. Francis, who was an ardent Catholic?
The play of 'man made teaching's that teach they are from God is what IS WRONG!
Well, I do believe that one man can be more important than others. After all, Our Lord chose some men to be more important than others, and Peter the most important of those.
As if you were not a man? Listen to yourself: you are giving to yourself the same authority that the Church claims.
Please stop making the thread about me.
WRONG! That is the thinking of a natural man. Let me introduce you to HIS Supernatural WORD and what HE tells us..
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. Is 55:8
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts. Is 55:9
So....
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to HIM, and He will make your paths straight." Provers 3:5,6
Catholics submitted to 'man made teachings'/natural and not Jesus The Word/supernatural.
Our Lord chose certain men by NAME and assigned to them the mission of proclaiming the Gospel to the whole world.
That is not clear at all...If there was one who acted like a rock it was John...And then Paul...
What people fail to recognize is that while Jesus' ministry was so large that wouldn't be enough space to collect it all in writing, those things that were written were done so to give us enough information to be successful in knowing Jesus and attaining salvation...
For all we know, one of the lesser known apostles could have been more prominent than those written about...We have enough information to know that we are not to focus on any of the apostles but only Jesus...Just as the 'church' epistles were given to us by Paul, we are not to focus on Paul...
And what did Peter do that makes him outstanding among the other apostles??? Peter was used to show us how frail and unstable Christians and men who were apostles could be...Peter even proclaimed, 'don't bow down to me, I'm just a poor, dumb human like the rest of you'...
As if Peter, Paul, Moses, Abraham were not a man? HIS own hear HIS voice and they know Who they will follow - man has a choice. There are those who hear/obey God follow Him and those who hear from evil, follow evil.
" And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord " Joshua 24:15
I did...You're wrong again...
John got to the tomb first...The tomb wasn't like a hotel room...You could see the entire room after the rock was rolled away...I'm sure there wasn't even enough room for a nightstand...
John looked inside and obviously stood there in shock...He after all, was the apostle we are told who seemed to have a more intimate or personal relationship with Jesus...
While John was slumped against the doorframe in shock and awe, Peter took the couple of steps needed and inspected the cloth material that was laying there...
That's all there is too it...
No one cares what a Catholic belief is as long as we have the bible to set things straight...
