“700 Club” Errs on Catholic Church and Hitler
http://www.catholicleague.org/ ^ | April 23, 2013 | Bill Donohue

In a segment titled “God and Hitler,” Gordon Robertson (son of Rev. Pat Robertson), hosted a discussion on the Catholic Church’s response to Hitler. Several errors of fact were made.

1) It is wrong to paint Hitler as a Catholic. Though he was baptized, he excommunicated himself, latae sententiae, when he sought, in his words, to “crush [the Catholic Church] like a toad.” He made good on his pledge by persecuting 8,000 priests, over 500 of whom were killed in concentration camps. He also sought to assassinate the pope.

2) The 1933 Nazi-Vatican Concordat was not a show of solidarity. As Rabbi David Dalin has shown, it was a protective measure designed to protect German Catholics from persecution. In fact, at least 34 letters of protest were sent from the Vatican to the Nazis between 1933 and 1937, culminating in a 1937 encyclical that condemned Nazi violations of the Concordat and its racial ideology. It was smuggled out of Italy and distributed on Palm Sunday to Catholics in Germany. Nothing like this happened in Protestant churches in Germany.

3) It is not true that Hitler met resistance from Protestants alone. There are 800,000 trees planted in Israel that represent the 800,000 Jews saved by the Catholic Church. None have been planted as a tribute to Protestants. During the war, the New York Times twice said the Church was “a lonely voice crying out of the silence of a continent”; Albert Einstein also singled out the Church during the war. After the war, Golda Meir praised the work of the Church, as did the ADL, the World Jewish Congress, and scores of other Jewish organizations.

4) It is factually wrong to say the Vatican archives have “never been seen.” Many scholars have had access. As for Pope Pius XII being “Hitler’s Pope,” it should be noted that John Cornwell, the ex-seminarian who originated this term, retracted it years ago. So why does “The 700 Club” continue to cite it?

In the spirit of narses’ “famous” cereal box postings of mockery, I think we need a picture of Depends diapers for our RC posters. The whole Rome system can be summed up in one word: DEPENDS...

Trying to get a straight answer to a simple yes or no question is *sowing discord*?

Who knew?

"I’ve become totally convinced that what the RCC teaches is “another gospel” and admonition from scripture applies to all who deal with it and it’s followers."

Unfortunate, but true. Perhaps it is time to let this group wallow in its error. It is just that almost daily we are confronted with self-aggrandizing, self-congratulatory articles full of cultish nonsense, to sit by and say nothing is difficult.

"Perhaps it is time to let "

Actually if you are double-predestined, then perhaps you ought to follow the pre-defined fate and leave us to ours, eh?

Thank you!

If God were to tell us how He has pre-destined each individual, we would do just that. In the scheme of things as He has planned and as He is executing that very personal plan of rescuing His elect, we do not know your pre-defined fate. For that reason, we are called with Timothy to, "...preach the word; be ready in season and out of season, to reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure SOUND doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled (by Rome), they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths (of Rome)."

But that's not what post 175 was about. Post 175, the one you responded to iscool's post by taking his name out and putting in *All* and responded to the comment with the islamist sowing discord said thus....

Salvation constantly tells us that 'once a Catholic, always a Catholic'...So one of these is not true...Which one is not true??? Which one of you guys is wrong???

With which you replied....

taqiyah = Islamic pretending to be something else to sow discord...

Here, we're going to need this waiting for an answer.

Biggest case of answer evasion I've seen in a long time.

And neither of your comments even touch on what this entire post is about, namely about the falseness of some of your friend’s like the Eck-eck’s claims. And the false posts still remain...

A the time when Cardinal Dolan Honored by Evangelicals for Leadership and Christians are uniting to fight a common enemy, your position is extremely strange and plays into the hands of the secularists..

"Once Baptized always Baptized. You cannot undo your Baptism. Baptism makes you a Christian and member of the Mystical Body of Christ which is the Catholic Church. So in that very broad sense what Salvation said is true because the door to communion and salvation remains open to those that have left the Church until the moment of their death.

However, a person is truly Catholic when they believe and practice the teachings of the Catholic Church. Absent a Church in your life, I'll leave you to continue to explore the Mystery of Iniquity on your own.

Peace be with you

Catholics don’t read people out of the Church. Hitler was a non-practicing Catholic, and never attended mass. He was not thought to be actively hostile, like many high Nazis, taking a kind of above it all stance. But the pope knew about him having served as nuncio in Germany for many years, knew him to be a dangerous man. The German Empire had been hostile to the Church since 1870, and while it had come to terms, with them, Catholics remained a minority inside of Germany, with the Center Party serving as its political voice, serving as a partner with the Social Democrats in Weimar Governments.

Baptism makes you wet. It doesn’t make you a Christian. Faith in Jesus does that.

So, then, God is sending Christians, part of the body of Christ to hell because they don’t measure up?

Strange god Catholics have that would send His own children to hell.
