With Ninja angels in ancient Sodom, the highly publicized TV miniseries "The Bible," which made its national debut Sunday night on the History Channel, does not always stick to Scripture, despite being produced by two famous Christians and having numerous biblical experts as well as Texas megapastor Joel Osteen advising on the project.

But, if that's not enough, I'll let you down gently ~ Israel was located on the Arabian peninsula, on the Mediterranean side ~ and it's a sort of landbridge between the continents of Africa and Asia.
They ~ meaning black folk ~ already got there early in the Paleolithic ~ they ~ meaning black folk ~ are still there lurking around in the gene pool ~ with new ones coming every time a new army sweeps through the area.
Many Semites have KINKY HAIR and that's not a case of parallel evolution!
When Jesus next pays a visit the Revelation says he’ll have hair like sheep’s wool, and bronze feet! A few minutes work finding that description is worth your time ~ http://www.roadtohere.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/DSC_7365.jpg
If a Jew or a black cannot be a European in your eye, then you have problems.
This has to do with the Greek Dark Age ~ one day business shut down for a long economic depression then the next day they woke up and people were using the Phoenician alphabet and writing down all sorts of things.
Right! I consider ANY DEPICTION that gets people to listen, talk about, or wonder about Christ a completely successful endeavor. Do you believe ‘ol Jonah got swallowed by a whale? Well good for you. But even the people who wrote the Bible exaggerate it to make their point. Nothing at all wrong with that to turn people in the right direction and away from sin. Anyone who turned off American Idol to watch The Bible was thusly swayed. Who cares about literal accuracy... It is getting people, in any way possible, to look toward Christ that counts in this sadly secular age. ...and you know what? I’m RIGHT...why? Because that is what I believe and it makes me strong. Don’t try to diminish my joy with your word for word fundamentalism...a turnoff and reason why people watch American Idol ...because it is less interesting than A.M. But the Bible blew them away in the ratings! Hooray for God!!!!
I saw some of this series and was disappointed as well. Get Semitic actors to play Semitic characters - - there must be some out there somewhere... The makeup, the hairdos... that stuff bothers me the way it has always bothered me to see paintings of Jesus with blonde hair. Seeing African blacks and northern European whites playing Semitic characters just doesn’t cut it.
About the only leeway I give in these kinds of historical films is the dialogue - - ideally I would prefer original languages spoken, with the film subtitled, but I realize that’s asking too much.
Horse manure! You don’t have to let me down any way.
Get off my lawn
I’ve watched a gazillion movies of books, stories, bible, etc., and ALWAYS Hollywood does not tell the story the same way as it was written.
So, it’s not just the Bible.
Why would they do it differently?
I will suggest that a lot of times it is because they have to fit what they want to film within a certain budget, and that means within prescribed technological capacity, etc.
I’m not all that concerned with ninja angels, since Balaam’s ass’s angel had a sword and so did David’s death angel.
The good news is that someone did the bible and mentioned Joshua, Uriah, Nebuchadnezzar, Azariah, Herod Antipas, etc.
They ARE telling the story.
I left off Zedekiah.
No one talks about Zedekiah, and especially not about his blinding by Nebuchadnezzar whether Nebu personally did it with his thumbs or not.
And no one mentions Nebu’s madness, either.
Ok nitpicker. It is obvious to any but the deliberately obtuse that I was implying genetic descent not nationality or culture.
I think that everyone here is a little puzzled by your confused racial ramblings.
You don’t think the ‘cast’ of the Bible (including AFRICAN TRIBES) weren’t ‘diverse”?
I’d say you were the PC one, where every image of the Bible is north European...
I don’t want to live in a world where “Chinese” people can’t be angels...
It isn’t hyper sensitivity, this is out in public on a conservative forum, even a thread about the Bible, this not in your living room, or at the bar.
Confusing to a moron.
I can see that.
They reached millions of viewers in an entertainment world where much is unfit for family viewing. In that respect they did tell the story of Sodom to where adults who paid attention understood the sin but at the same time for any kids watching it would not require going into the facts of life. A delicate balance they seemed to have met.
I've watched each part so far at least twice and each time I pick up on more and more. The temptation by Satan in the wilderness was very realistic. No mortal human without GOD's hand would survive more than a few days under the terms Christ did. They do indeed send a message especially at Satan's last attempt where Christ see's Satan's throne offered to Him or wear the Crown Of Thorns He must face soon for our sins.
The see the movie and if the viewer is willing and The Holy Spirit leads them they'll learn the missing pieces all in good time. The two principle ones who decided to make the movie to start with could have made far more money in secular entertainment with far less vested time and work.
