Really I don’t wish to have a discussion. I don’t wish to argue opinions.
I stand on the Word of God and not the traditions of man. But I will repeat the point a Catholic made upthread simply because it underscored the point I’m making:
There is no spiritual significance or relevance in smoke-signalling a new pope than there is in having a covered dish supper.
I don’t recall any claims of spiritual significance in using black or white smoke to report the vote. There may be some symbolism, but no spiritual significance.
You disagree with Catholicism. That’s fine, it’s your business. Don’t let preconceptions blind you.
