“Their belief that I will burn in hell if I don’t believe as they do does nothing to put me there, any more than your similar belief about them of itself has any effect on their ultimate fate.”

Mormons are generally universalist, at least eventually. Even people just trapped in “spirit prison” have a chance afterwards to leave it, including Hitler. According to them, there are three heavens. The terrestrial, Telestial and the Celestial. Only the worthy Mormons will ascend to the Celestial heaven to dwell with God, where they themselves will be united with their families and will continue onward and onward to become gods of their own planets. Everyone else gets sorted into the lower heavens, where “hell” is essentially to be eternally envious of the Mormons who were good and obedient enough to become gods.

This, of course, is not Biblical, as Christ is quite clear that the elect dwell with Christ forever in heaven, and the damned in everlasting fires of torment where their worm dieth not. Since salvation is by the grace of God, there is no one being “good enough” to achieve their own salvation or godhood. Plus there is only one God, neither is there marriage in heaven.

From the Biblical perspective, we can be quite confidant that Mormonism is a damning religion, because it preaches a false Gospel, denies the true horror of sin and the depravity of man, denies who Christ is and His mission, and renders salvation a matter of racing to be a God of your own planet or else eternally being envious of Mormons in your lesser Gentile heaven.

Here’s Paul on the matter:

Gal 1:5-9 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (6) I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: (7) Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. (8) But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. (9) As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Yeah; that's what their scripture seems to indicate as well; so where they get the TRINITY being abhorant is beyond me!!

 Mormon Trinity.

Mormon 7:7

And he hath brought to pass the redemption of the world, whereby he that is found guiltless before him at the judgment day hath it given unto him to dwell in the presence of God in his kingdom, to sing ceaseless praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end.

An 1830 statement titled "Testimony of Three Witnesses"—one statement signed by three men rather than three separate statements—was published at the end of the first edition of the Book of Mormon:

Be it known unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, unto whom this work shall come: That we, through the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, have seen the plates which contain this record, which is a record of the people of Nephi, and also of the Lamanites, his brethren, and also of the people of Jared, who came from the tower of which hath been spoken. And we also know that they have been translated by the gift and power of God, for his voice hath declared it unto us; wherefore we know of a surety that the work is true. And we also testify that we have seeen [sic] the engravings which are upon the plates; and they have been shewn unto us by the power of God, and not of man. And we declare with words of soberness, that an angel of God came down from heaven, and he brought and laid before our eyes, that we beheld and saw the plates, and the engravings thereon; and we know that it is by the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, that we beheld and bear record that these things are true. And it is marvellous [sic] in our eyes. Nevertheless, the voice of the Lord commanded us that we should bear record of it; wherefore, to be obedient unto the commandments of God, we bear testimony of these things. And we know that if we are faithful in Christ, we shall rid our garments of the blood of all men, and be found spotless before the judgment-seat of Christ, and shall dwell with him eternally in the heavens. And the honor be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, which is one God. Amen.

Never understood that one, as I have absolutely no desire to be God, or even a god. Don't understand those who do have this desire.

For those who think I'm a Mormon apologist, that's far from the case. I've had a number of rather HWrws discussions with Mormons who are heavily into the "Mormon persecution" meme, which is a distortion of history IMO.

The real truth is that 19th century Mormons had a disastrous habit of starting and losing wars, then claiming religious persecution. 19th century western America had quite a large number of weird religious groups running around. For some obscure reason the Mormons were the only ones consistently involved in religious persecution.

One Mormon I had an extended discussion with claimed hundreds or thousands of Mormon deaths in the Missouri mob attacks. Tried for weeks to get him to document these claims. Actual numbers are probably well under 100, probably about half that.

Which means Mormons killed more in the single Mountain Meadows atrocity, the greatest atrocity committed in peacetime by American whites on American whites in our entire history, than Mormons were killed by the mobs.
