Original Language of the Book of Mormon: Upstate New York Dialect, King James English, or Hebrew?

...the original text of the Book of Mormon contains expressions which seem inappropriate or improper in some of their uses. For example, in the original text a good many occurrences of the phrase "and it came to pass" are found in inappropriate contexts. In his editing for the 1837 edition, Joseph Smith removed at least 47 of these apparently extraneous uses of this well-worked phrase. In most cases, there were two or more examples of "it came to pass" in close proximity; in some cases, nothing new had "come to pass."

I sent you a private reply. What’s the difference between God and you? God doesn’t think he is you. I don’t judge. I strongly believe what you do behind closed doors and does not violate natural law is your choice.

I am Catholic.

I am human.

I try to understand people.

I am happy.

Some here sound very unhappy.

Love the sinner, not the sin & live and let live.

Its worked for me so far.

Thank you for your response(s)

I don’t judge

(But we do discern, and we are expected by God to show public discernment...I wasn't faulting your choice to attend a Mormon send-off re: his daughter...I myself have gone to a Mormon baptism & Mormon funeral, etc. I was merely taking issue with SOME of the OTHER things you said, which I'll comment on below)

I strongly believe what you do behind closed doors and does not violate natural law is your choice.

(Yes, but we don't have to publicly sanction that person's choice, now do we? Nor NOT inwardly be 100% care-free about it, right?)

Love the sinner, not the sin...

Agreed

...and let live

Disagree...because your definition of "let live" can be to "leave die" or fail to attempt to pre-empt somebody else from heading to hell. If all the Christian missionaries assumed your 'tude of "let live" we'd call 'em all home, wouldn't we?

And even assuming that your friend's daughter heading on a Mormon mission is motivated by love, etc...even ALL such lds missionaries would NEVER go if you preached your "let live" message to them and they responded, "OK, we'll let 'em live as they are...and stay here, after all."

Every missionary of whatever bent at least assumes an attitude that people out there need to change the course they are on...Now, the "cure" some offer (like Lds missionaries) isn't a "cure" at all...But right now, I'm just talking about the attitudinal motivation.

Now...allow me to focus on the phrases that were of concern to me -- as to why I responded to them:

Your post #25: I could care less what he celebrates on Sunday.

I cited Romans 9:1-4 to show you that for those who truly care about the eternal destination of others' souls, then, yes, we DO care about those who worship false gods. Elsewise, if you have any children or grandchildren, then I suppose you wouldn't care if they became Muslims or Satanists or Wicca witches, eh? Or if your daughter became one of many FLDS wives of a polygamist.

From post #30: ...whatever makes ya happy and it doesn’t affect me

I don't need to further elaborate upon this comment...other than to say that when you make such open-ended statements that apply to a LOT of negative and eternally negative lifestyles, don't be surprised when you get a little pushback on that. Therefore, I stand by what I said in post #32.

What about the false teacher?

Love him too?

I read your private e-mails.

They could have just as easily been printed here.

When are you going to really befriend your friend and kindly illustrate that he is in a cult?

Offer hima TRUE god to worship?

A REAL Jesus who died for his sins?
