It's a battle between Tim Tebow and worldliness, and right now worldliness is winning -- or was, until last weekend. It always seems to win.
Really, it never does (in the end).
Let's back up a moment.
Tebow, as you probably recall, is the openly Christian quarterback who often wins in improbable (read: miraculous) fashion. Two years ago, he and his mother made headlines when they appeared in a pro-life Super Bowl commercial (controversial because it stood against abortion).
Last year his remarkable, come-from-behind victories as quarterback for the Denver Broncos captivated the American imagination.
"Tebowing" became a new way to pray (kneeling, helmet off and held at the knee, head bowed at the sideline). He wore that "eye paint" with biblical references (the nerve!).
A year ago this month in a dramatic playoff game against Pittsburgh, the Broncos set the NFL overtime record (regular season or playoffs) for the fastest overtime ever, winning in 11 seconds with just one, 80-yard play. He had done the same any number of times as a Gator at the University of Florida, where he was the youngest at the time ever to win the Heisman Trophy (his sophomore year).
It was a culmination of a miraculous series of games that took the underdog Broncos to a spot few expected them to be.
Tebow's reward?
He was unceremoniously and in a humiliating way traded to the New York Jets when a world-class but aging and injured quarterback named Peyton Manning became available.
The Broncos said good-bye to Tebow and agreed to pay Manning $96 million over a five-year period -- certain now, with Manning, that they would not only win playoff games but probably the Super Bowl.

No. It’s about teams not having to completely re-design an offense to accommodate a great kid, a great athlete, but a lousy passer. Why is this so hard to grasp?
Indeed, the wicked hate the rightious with a hatred even they cannot understand.
Tim Tebow’s “saga” mostly involves the fact that he sucks as a quarterback. The arm is not there, the mechanics are not there, etc. His leadership ability is off the chart, but we are talking about the NFL, not a charity organization.
Tebow could run the option offense as he did in college. However the QB’s who are doing this successfully now can all throw the ball in the pocket far better than Tebow.
The Broncos didn’t want to build the Offense around Tebow’s skill set, the JEts used him to sell Personal Seat Licenses.
He really doesn’t have the body to be a QB. HE should become an H back and he could have a very good NFL career.
One other fact. Tebow WON a playoff game, Manning has yet to do that.
of course Manning is making 10 times as much.
Also” Tebow had much better stats in college than the guy that replaced him.
You are correct. Tebow’s atrocious record with the Bronco’s proves your case beyond a shadow of a doubt...
Oh wait.
He led the Bronco’s to a lot of victories.
Never mind.

The guy is a physical specimen. Is there any reason he can’t be used as an H-back, or tight end? Does he refuse to play any other position?
Here’s hoping Tebow hangs on to his dream of becoming a bonafide NFL QB and not let negative or doubtful minds define who and what he is. Keep believing and working at it Tim.
Anyone who watched the playoff game on Sunday could see that Denver still had a QB with a suspect arm and an offense specifically designed to cover his shortcomings....only this QB was paid $13 million more. And Manning’s last pass was so weak it was picked off
The NFL is trying to run Tim Tebow out of the league. When the Jax Jaguars refused to even consider Tebow....that told me the NFL is blackball him. Tebow would make the Jags $$....and they are passing on him? Right....
Why would the NFL possibly be trying to run Tim Tebow out of the league? The NFL is about money. Period. And Tebow is making them money.
The painful truth is, he’s just not a good quarterback. Yes, he had a great run with the Broncos. He benefited from a great defense, and place kicker who was lights-out fantastic. But watching him try to pass is just painful. And there’s a reason NFL teams don’t run the option... defenses are just too fast.
There are plenty of strong, vocal Christians in the NFL. Its a paranoid fantasy to think that for some bizarre reason Tim Tebow is being singled out.
The Jags suck. They’ve always sucked and they always will in the future. They covered up a couple thousand seats in the stadium and it’s still impossible to get enough people into the stadium to play a game on local tv. Tebows career, if he is to have one at all would be destroyed if he were to play for the Jags. And by the way, they’re my hometown team.
In the end it is Tebow's call 15 years as a tight end or H back or 15 games as a Q.B.
It really is up to Tebow now.
Agreed. Tebow won a National championship in the SEC twice. Takes a 1-4 team to the playoffs and beat the Steelers. He’s getting blackballed. I want the Browns to get him. We have 3 average qb’s here. He would be fun to watch. He can take a hit too.
Can you say Mark Sanchez? 66.9 rating.
Sorry but Tim Tebow is a lousy QB.. Plain and simple..
I am what you would call a secular Freeper... religion is just not my thing, or minimally, my faith is mine and I am unwilling to proselytize something so very personal.
Also... I find televised professional football (NFL) boring, and nothing but a venue to sell cornchips and pasteurized beer made out of rice (I was very spoiled with a roommate that subscribed to Setanata on DirecTV and became captivated by the truly athletic sport of Rugby... TV timeouts? What? In rugby they keep playing as the wounded are tended to on the field of battle).
Regardless of everything above I have babbled about, thank you for posting this link. It was well-written and tells a “good story”... which is needed right now while we are all feeling humiliated and walked on by the Godless Communist/Occupy Pennsylvania Avenue Community Organizer that 49% of this country voted for... a man currently on a mission to strip law-abiding citizens of their God-given right to take up arms to protect the rest of our rights from being usurped by purple-lipped tyrants.
