Vatican Article Likens Gay Marriage to Communism
Seattle Post-Intelligencer ^ | 1/14/13 | Joel Connolly

The Vatican has taken multiple blasts at same-sex marriage in the last month, just as it is on the way to becoming legal in Britain and France, and as a poll by an evangelical-backed organization finds opposition in the United States on the wane.

A front-page article in L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper, likens marriage equality to 20th-century communism, reports the Religion News Service, saying it is equal to “the egalitarian utopia that did so much damage during the 20th Century . . . deceiving humanity as socialism did in the past.”

The Vatican blast follows a Christmas season message of peace from Pope Benedict XVI, in which the pontiff spoke of protecting traditional marriage from “attempts to make it juridically equivalent to radically different types of unions.”

The pope spoke of “a crisis that threatens (the family in Western society) to its foundations,” condemning “a new philosophy of sexuality” which teaches that “sex is no longer a given element of nature” but a “social role to choose for ourselves.”

But marriage-equality bills are moving through the parliament in London, the assembly in Paris, and been upheld by the courts in Spain. And voters in Washington, Maryland and Maine approved same-sex marriage last November, while Minnesota voters rejected a bid — backed by the Catholic Church — to write a ban on marriage equality into the state constitution.

I should have said “you should know better as I have repeatedly shown you that I believe in the Trinity”.

Wow, daniel's posts go further into fiction -- here's what daniel's post said "some RC sources -- here (reformation500.wordpress...) and here (http://beggarsallreformation....)"

RC sources? you mean Reformed Calvinist sources?

Really? If you don’t, then why are you agreeing with him on all of this — or do you believe, as he does, that the Trinity is false?

It’s really disappointing to see you resort to that hyperbole. I suppose if that’s the last resort having no scriptural support for one’s beliefs and history stands against the claims of the RCC one has to resort to something.

That’s three times now. Did you not read? Or is it a comprehension problem?

That’s four times now. Interesting.

And, let’s get this clear, you have no issue with folks bringing up an unbiblical teaching to reject the Trinity? Fascinating...

And that's exactly what happened after Uri posted his post 26 about the institution of Easter by the Catholic church, and his other comments about the Catholic church.

He pulled the mask off and instead of Catholics staying on topic and refuting it with documentation, it became a personal attack feeding frenzy, going off on tangents that had nothing to do with the topic, but which only purpose seems to be to discredit people.

Attacking the messenger, not the message.

Par for the course.

Well, since you apparently are like other RCs who have stated they will not look at non-Catholic links (here, here [and comments] and here , then once more you are displaying ignorance and once again are engaging in misrepresentation and falsely charging me with error in your knee-jerk reactions to anything that might offend your object of devotion.

But take heed, unlike the last time you are now in the Religion forum and will not find the same liberty.

It is a marvel to behold ...

It is the enemy, doing what he does: Misdirection and changing the subject to confuse and wear down.

Y'all are way above me, I'm just a Campbellite that studies the Bible. I am some ignorant redneck that believes and has faith that the Bible is perfect and has been since it was written.

STOP making this thread "about" individual Freepers.

STOP bringing arguments from other threads to this one.

Discuss the issues all you want, but DO NOT make it personal.
