That verses 17 and 19 are about Peter STILL doesn't explain why Christ said, "And I tell you that you are Peter". Did He think Peter had forgotten his name? Jesus was saying that while you Peter are a rock, solid as a rock, albeit a little rock, I will build my church on this massive mountain of a rock, ME...
Why was it necessary to contrast Himself with Peter - who just one verse earlier acknwledged Him as "the Christ, the Son of the living God"?

One: Why was it necessary to contrast Himself with Peter -
The Other: who just one verse earlier acknwledged Him as "the Christ, the Son of the living God"?
What has ONE to do with the OTHER?

Why was it necessary to contrast Himself with Peter - who just four verses later was REBUKED soundly??
23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.
