No it doesnt. I have been clear when using the word priest as it is used in the New Testament. I have stated over and over that there is no use of the word priest as it pertains to leadership in the New Testament church. The RCC using the word priest as it pertains to their leadership is dishonest not sanctioned by scripture.
>> during the Eucharist, Christ IS present as the High Priest<<
Christ is present as the High Priest 24/7/365 to a true believer.
I John 3:24: "Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit which He has given us."
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Trying to restrict the presence of Christ to a single place and time is unscriptural and dishonest.
>>NOTE: the English term "priest" is simply a contraction of the Greek word presbuteros (presbyster/elder)<<
Nice try but Ill stay with the intent of the language the apostles used and not Etymologies.
And you are sticking to English -- the English term "priest" is simply a contraction of the Greek word presbuteros (presbyster/elder) -- these have the responsibility of teaching, governing, and providing the sacraments in a given congregation (1 Tim. 5:17; Jas. 5:1415).
The Elder (Presbuteros -- in english "priest", not hierus) is given the role of leadership
Christ is present during the Eucharist, thanks for acknowledging the True presence of Christ in the Eucharist, as do our Lutheran brethren
And the intent of the language that the apostles used is what's in the Apostolic Church and has been since the time of the Early Christians
it's rather funny for a johnny-come-lately to come along 2000 years later and thing he/she knows something that contradicts 2000 years. yeah, right....
very "progressive" of ya!
Excellent point, how true!
Trying to restrict the presence of Christ to a single place and time is unscriptural and dishonest. [Amen]Hmmm, so Catholic priests are Presbyterians? (It's all greek to me...)>>NOTE: the English term "priest" is simply a contraction of the Greek word presbuteros (presbyster/elder)<<
Acts 17:24-25 The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.
