The Catholic church made the original translations...they know what they're doing. Without them, we wouldn't have a bible at all.

The Catholic church did NOT write the OT, the Jewish Scripture, and the NT was written before the recorded history of the Catholic church.

This laying claim retroactively to being responsible for the existence of the Bible is simply a power grab to try to control Scripture, and non-Catholics who adhere to it.

please wake up....for the first 1,600 years of church history there were Catholics...they were the church, they edited, transcribed, saved, loved and copied, by hand, the bible....there was no one else to do it. They are solely responsible for the bibles existance...if not them, then who.....think of how long 1,600 years is....from the year 413A.D. until now. That is a long time to be in charge of anything and remember, there was no one else doing it....only the Cathilics.

sorry, but that is incorrect. The recorded history of the Church goes back to the Apostles.

Note also that Jewish canon was not closed until the Council of Jamnia in circa 90 AD. This removed many of the words from the Septuagint that were used by Christians as scriptural proof, which is why preaching Christianity from modern-day Jewish scripture is refutable by our Jewish friends. From the Septuagint, not so much.
