Your error is to compare what you think a "Middle-Eastern Jew" now looks like with what a Middle Eastern Jew would have looked like 2000 years ago. That region of the world has had more people from different places sweeping through it over the centuries than any other place. Tell me, how close do Ashenazi Jews resemble Sephardic Jews?
