Will Obama’s Catholics Realize What They Have Done?
Courageous Priest ^ | November 12, 2012 | Fr. John Hollowell:

First click here to watch a classic scene from the movie Brave Heart.

By Fr. John Hollowell: Brave Heart is obviously a classic. In the film, Robert the Bruce, the dashing young man from the video above, betrays William Wallace for money, lands, and titles. He regrets it after looking into Wallace’s eyes and seeing the wreckage that his decision has on his country.

I firmly believe that when Catholic hospitals are closing, when priests are being arrested for not marrying Adam and Steve, when our country starts aborting children with tax money, when the Catholic Church is completely turned on and the movement by secular atheists to annihilate the Church begins in full force, then the utterly horrendous, morally bankrupt nature of the voting practices of the cafeteria Catholics will finally be realized, and a lot of Catholics who voted for Obama will say the same thing Robert Bruce said above:

“Money, lands, titles, power..nothing…those pro-life Catholics fight for something that I’ve never had, and I took it from them when I betrayed them and I saw it in their faces on the battlefield, and it’s tearing me apart.”

well I will tell you this about the Catholic church. I am sick to death of living single not even able to consider having companionship or a social life, but to do otherwise while I have a living spouse is sin. I am sick of God not working this out for me.

" I am sick of God not working this out for me."

I know exactly what you mean and how awful it is when it drags on for years and you can't understand why God doesn't seem to even hear prayers on that topic. I don't understand how in cases where someone wasn't wanting a divorce and was abandoned can be in the same position as if they had with malice aforethought ignored Church teaching and gotten a divorce.

While nearly everything else the Church teaches makes logical sense to me, I don't understand the logic that goes into someone who has an abortion or sterilizes them self being able to confess, repent, and go on with their life while someone who is basically abandoned by a spouse can't. They're hostage to that other person who clearly doesn't believe they're one flesh with the person they abandoned. It's one of the very few things I don't follow the logic of and would like to have someone explain to me so I can understand. Especially in cases where all of this happens prior to someone even becoming Catholic.

I'm with you in not understanding how God seems to be silent and not listening during dark times like that. Praying about a marriage for years before a spouse dissolves it and even for years after doesn't seem to make much difference and I know what a challenge to your faith that is. Most of the people I know who left the Catholic Church did so as the result of their marriage ending in divorce.

I went through a divorce after my wife who had always said she wanted children aborted our child in spite of my objections, then took everything we owned and moved back to her parents house. How would the Catholic Church look at that situation all these decades later had the Grim Reaper not intervened prior to my becoming Catholic? I don't follow the logic and I'd like to.

My Lutheran pastor back then had known both myself and my ex since we were in high school and encouraged me to get a divorce because I shouldn't be unequally yoked together with an unbeliever. It took me a long time to accept that view, but after several years I finally did. Now, of course, someone could just file a no fault divorce and I don't think the other person even has a say in the matter.
