But while women have full rights under the Constituion, Mormon males STILL mamge to refuse them equal rights in their religion..

How do Mormon women attain Heaven? I've heard different accounts, one of which is that their husbands must call them there, using their secret names. Any truth to that?

I'm not trying to "stir the pot", it's a serious question.

Yes its true

The husbands all rise from their graves first and if they want to they call their wives out by using a new name given to her at ‘the veil’ when she ‘went through the temple’

If he thinks she was not a worthy wife he doesnt have to call her...

or for any other large or trivial reason...

IOW the husband is her ‘savior...her ‘lord’ as Brigham Young put it...and not the Mormon jesus...

when you consider that each worthy temple Mormon male is going to have multitudes of other ‘wives’ all young and virgins and get his own planet to ‘lord’ over as the god there...the chances of his wanting to take alone a woman who was old and wrinkly the last time he saw her are slim..

so ‘salvation’ or ‘atonement’ as the Mormons call it in the Mormon after life is mighty chancy if you are just a female..

thats a big reason the wives in Utah are all smily and happy looking and uncomplaining and Stepford Wifesish and the state is the leader in Prozac and other mind altering perscription drugs..

if you beleived that way and your salvation depending on your husbands good opinion of you and you didnt know any better wouldnt you be the good little Molly Mormon too ???

Ive PINGed some FReepers who know more...

Yes, it is true. Men and Women are given a ‘new name’ in the temple (they use the same names for all men and women any given day, and rotate through about 20 names all from the Bible - Sarah, Naomi, Rebekah, Noah, Gabriel, etc). If you forget your ‘new name’ you can ask someone and they will tell you, but most LDS think that their ‘new name’ is only theirs and don’t realize everyone else going through that day for their ‘endowments’ have the same name.

When they are given their new name they are told not to tell ANYONE except for that day, at a certain place in the ceremony.

For the men, they give their ‘new name’ at the veil to ‘god’, for women going through with their soon to be husbands (if they are getting married or sealed that day or the next), the woman gives their name to their husband instead of God (at least when I was LDS). I have heard that now, if you go through and aren’t getting married you give your name to ‘god’ too for women, but to your husband if you are getting married.

Men know their wife’s ‘new name’ but the wife will never be told her husband, this is because women are called from the grave by their husbands, but husbands are called from the grave by god. (I am using lower case purposely because it is a false god).

One thing I find funny is imagine the confusion during the resurrection all these Rebekkah’s how do you know which one is you?

I’m a Mormon woman and I haven’t a clue on earth what the anti Mormons/anti MormonISM folk on this site are talking about. Like Catholics, women do not hold the Priesthood in our Church. I have no desire to hold the Priesthood - too much work and responsibility. I have enough to do to work and fulfill my callings. By the way, there is no paid clergy in my Church.

My son bought one of their books that claimed Mormons are cultists. You can buy one, too, and hundreds of anti Mormon/anti MormonISM literature, etc. But the fact remains that Jesus died for Mormons, too. My son sees by my life that I am not a member of a cult. In fact, the very idea makes me laugh.

If you want to be a Priest, you can join the Anglican or Episcopalian Church. You can even be a gay or lesbian clergy in other churches. Whatever. Makes no difference to me. Remember, we Mormons stood side-by-side with Evangelicals and Catholics and Jews to protest abortion and gay marriage. It kind of hurt a little after we helped pass Prop 8 in CA when some of the other so-called Christians turned on us.

This morning in my Ward, a newly married couple gave talks. We take turns and no one gets paid. No passing of the plate! We tithe, yes, and I have no idea why that makes some people so darn mad; they see red!

We love our Savior Jesus Christ. He suffered and died for us all.

I have no idea why the anti Mormons on this site invest so much time and effort in trashing my Church. Oh, yes, I do; many of them depend on anti Mormon business - books, tapes, DVDs, speaking engagements, etc., to make their living.
