A saint from an earthly perspective sure, but salvation cannot be earned by sacrificing yourself for a baby or 10,000 babies. Scripture makes it crystal clear that salvation is by grace through faith and not of works.

Ephesians 2:8-9
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25:40

Jesus says "Whatever you did to the least of my brothers, you did it to Me." We are judged and our eternal destiny is determined in accordance with our works.

Scripture makes it crystal clear

Scripture says a whole lot of things ...

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. -- John 15:13

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. -- 1 Pt 4:8

Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. -- 1 Tm 2:15

Why do you ignore those verses in order to harangue us about how she couldn't be saved except by grace through faith, both of which -- grace and faith -- she certainly had, since she was a believing Catholic?

"Scripture makes it crystal clear that salvation is by grace through faith and not of works."

Salvation cannot be rendered down to a single verse or bumper sticker, it must be taken as a whole, each verse in the context of all others. Nor is Salvation the same for each of us. God ask us all to do what we can do and for those to whom much is given more is expected. Scripture tells us than there are many things that save us;

-God (2 Timothy 1:8-9),
-Jesus (Matthew 1:21, 1 Timothy 1:15),
-The Holy Spirit (John 3:5, Titus 3:5, 2 Thessalonians 2:13),
-Grace (Ephesians 2:8),
-The Blood of Christ (Romans 5:9), Jesus’ Name (Acts 4:12), Jesus’ Life (Romans 5:10),
-The Gospel (Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 1:18, 15:1-2; 2 Thessalonians 2:13),
-The Implanted Word (James 1:21),
-Faith (Acts 16:31, Romans 1:16, 10:9-10, 1 Peter 1:9),
-Obedience (Matthew 7:21, Hebrews 5:9, 1 Peter 1:21), Works (Philippians 2:12, James 2:24),
-Loving God and others (John 14:21-24),
-Confession of Faith (Romans 10:9-10),
-Repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10),
-Baptism (Mark 16:16, 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 2:38, 22:16),
-Doctrine (1 Timothy 4:16),
-Evangelization (Romans 10:13-14, 11:14; 1 Corinthians 1:21, 7:16, 9:22; James 5:20).

Peace be with you

She had grace to do what she did. She was also graceful in her living. You could learn from her.

Saint Paul taught that good works must accompany saving faith (Eph. 2:10; Tit. 3:8; Gal. 5:6; Phil. 2:11-12).

But here’s the one that protestants like to ignore.

Revelation 20: 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

But what better demonstation of faith is there then wonderful acts such as this? "By their fruits ye shall know them".

Matthew 25:31-46
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Never once does Jesus say that the “sheep” are given their reward because they merely believed in Him. In fact, Jesus said elsewhere that “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Now in Matthew 25 Jesus is saying that those who DO something for the least of His brothers and sisters will enter heaven.

Why do you think it’s only works OR faith? It’s both! Catholics are NOT taught it’s only works - we are saved by grace alone, but the good works we do are the result of our faith in Christ and our relationship to Him.

She took up her cross and followed it. Now I do not presume to say she is “in heaven,” but humanly speaking, she puts my faith to shame.
