Prayers please .. for Onyx's grandson

Please hold Onxy's dear grandson, Brady, in your prayers.

From Onyx over the weekend:

"My 17 year old grandson, Brady is at Georgetown Hospital, Grand Cayman Island, in ICU with severe head injuries .. a distracted driver using a cell phone crashed into Brady and his Dad on their scooter.

Brady was thrown 20 yards. He laid there comatose for 45 minutes before the ambulance arrived from the hospital less than 1 mile away. (Nothing like free medicine).

He has severely bruised lungs and is getting oxygen, and has to be kept highly sedated because of brain swelling and a small blood clot. His Dad is in surgery for crushed knee caps and several other fractures.

DrO talked with his doctors and determined they’re completely competent, (Praise God) and said this is not life threatening.

No internal bleeding, but they have not yet checked for broken bones or fractures. As with all severe brain injuries, until they’re able to bring Brady to consciousness, the extent of the trauma and injury to his brain is an unknown.

If the pressure caused by the swelling doesn’t dissipate, they’ll have to go in. Just a small amount of bleeding, and the blood clot is small, as of 1:00AM

Update this afternoon (after 6 hrs of surgery):

"The new CAT scan showed it all perfect.

The pressure reading is perfect and the swelling is zero. They stopping the sedation med already!

The doctor squeezed him and he showed a reaction!!!

Praise God. Praying that when Brady is taken out of his medically induced coma, that he will still be Brady - that is what I''m praying for."

Praise God! It’s tougher to be a grandma than a mom! I’m not through the thread with my thanks you’s and here you are writing to me before I sent my thank you to sweetest you!!! We very much appreciated your prayers for Brady and thank you from my heart.

I told STAR what a mess I’ve made of my thank you notes, so she just sent her list to me that she magnificently compiled. I think I’d better finish tomorrow (later today actually). I’ve made enough mistakes for one night...LOL.
She’s such a great and longtime friend to me. I love her like a cherished sister and she knows it. I tell her almost everyday. Well, everyday that we get the chance to speak or post to one another.

How fabulously wonderful you’re in Oregon during the summer to see your grandchildren! I’m so happy they’re both happy and healthy! Your seven year old granddaughter has to be a lot of fun for you.

Thank you for your loving Christian response for blessings for my family as well. It is rather timely. I'll leave it go at that. For the rest of us that responded to your need for prayer. It is yet another joy to see answers to prayer.

No doubt a miracle with no small thanks to you being such a wonderful faithful Christian and all-round great person with lots of positive energy that was gifted by the grace of God. :)

Continued prayers for Brady, his father, you onyx/Patricia Ann and your whole family - who have suffered so much. Thank the good Lord above for this miracle!

There are so many terrible happenings posted on FR, it was really heartbreaking to read about this accident involving the close family of one of the best and most loyal FReepers. Really hope and pray and trust in God that you all are past this and can start enjoying your lives, whole, and together again.

Thank you Onyx for your concern for what I did not go into. In a pinch I live at my mom's house to keep and eye over her as she nears 96. I have a dear aunt who has been in and out of the hospital and nursing homes for the past month or so and another aunt, sister to my mom and the first mentioned aunt (92 and 85 respectively who also has taken it upon herself to take care of a niece (70) who is in wheel chair stage due to advanced MS.
So like so many. I do appreciate prayers being lifted up for so many in need. But as Job stuck to. God is good and gracious. HE loves all HIS. Despite the hardships often many have to go through.
Through it all, HIS will have a permanent home close to HIM in due time. As Paul so eloquently put it in the Eleventh Chapter to the Hebrews.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
We serve a wonderful God. One who through HIS creation instilled such a thing as faith in HIS created special ones. You take care.

God has blessed you richly to be able to reach out the way you do. Just to be clear. I do not “take care of my three aunts”. I’m close to them and will help when required but do not actually tend to their needs on a regular basis.

Thank you, sweetest, dear STAR for giving me your list you compiled for me. I want to thank you all from my heart for praying for my grandson, Brady. I will forever believe that your prayers along with his American neurosurgeon who was on duty the night of the tragedy saved his life. I've always believed that God made certain that the greatest power on this earth is prayer.

Brady is a walking talking miracle. As I'm typing this, I have birthday wrapping and birthday gifts on the table for tomorrow. He, his mom (my daughter) and his 9 year old brother are arriving here at Noon from the Cayman's for a 5 day visit! Can you imagine? Our merciful, Lord has more than answered our prayers!

Praise God! I will never be able to thank you all enough, except please know that I pray for my FRiends faithfully and your precious families. I love Free Republic for several reasons, but particularly because we pray together, for one another and our families and for our brave troops
