If there are certain sins so egregious they disqualify a pastor from continuing his ministry, Creflo Dollar committed such a sin this past Friday.
The founder and senior pastor of World Changers Church International, based in College Park,Ga., the front man for a national television ministry, Dollar was arrested and thrown in jail after going went medieval on his 15-year-old daughter.
According to his arrest record, Dollar choked his youngest daughter with both his hands, punched her, pushed her to the floor and beat her with a shoe. He was charged with battery, cruelty to children and family violence.
Yet, the pastor, already controversial for espousing the so-called prosperity Gospel, denies that the verbal argument he had with his teen-aged daughter, over a party she wanted to attend, ever escalated to domestic violence.
But the denial hasnt come directly from Dollar himself, but from surrogates he has deployed to do damage control on his behalf.
Like Randi Garrett, a long time member of World Changers Church International.
She insisted that Dollars arrest is just something thats been blown out of proportion and maintained that the pastors daughter is mistaken if she thought her father tried to do her bodily harm.
Kids misconstrue things, Garrett explained, and they take them out of context.
Meanwhile, Dollars attorney issued a statement in his name in which the pastor professed that he loves his kids, that he has their best interests at heart and that he would never raise his hand against them.
As to those of us whove previously borne no ill will toward the pastor, but would like him to explain what happened at his family home this past Friday, Dollars statement ruled that out. The facts of this case will be handled privately, it read.
Why so?
Well, the statement suggests, its not to spare the pastor further public embarrassment. Nor to avoid hard questions as to why he got so violent with his 15-year-old daughter that his 19-year-old daughter called the sheriff on him.
No, the father of five aint saying nothing, according to his statement, to further protect his children.
Well, I have no problem with Pastor Dollar taking that position with the godless media, with those outside the Body of Christ and even with those of us who are Christians, but are not members of his World Changers Church.
But the pastor absolutely owes a full explanation to faithful members of his megachurch, which boasts a congregation of 30,000, and to faithful followers of his Changing Your World television ministry. For the Scripture declares that An overseer must be above reproach.
Ultimately, of course, the fallen pastor needs to get right with God, Who first called Dollar to the pulpit, but Whose Spirit has obviously departed from the pastor.
For as Dollar himself has no doubt preached, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Then Rev. Zachary Tims, pastor of an Orlando megachurch, exposed for having an affair with a stripper, found dead in a New York City hotel room with a white powder in his pocket.
Now Creflo Dollar, charged with physically abusing his teen-age daughter.
That is what happens when those called by God lose their anointing
Sad to hear of this.
I don’t much like televangelists (Charles Stanley being the major exception).
Pray for him and his daughter.
Dude’s a poser from the beginning.
I mean, his very name tells us what he’s about.
A little Obamanics creeping in?
“The Spirit of God Has Departed from Creflo Dollar”
That sounds like a huge overstatment don’t you think?
He’s only human, his girl could be lieing. Give the benefit of doubt till he’s charged and has a trial. God never leaves anyone. HE’S always there.
15 year old daughters can be very aggravating.
No, we're definitely not going traditional...Creflo is the name the Mrs and I have chosen. It's gonna be Creflo.
Creflo? You be kiddin'?
Nope. Creflo it be.
Who shall guard the guardians? It is a shame whenever a cult of personality overshadows the Gospel, because when the human fails, as he/she will, it damages the ministry most of all. The situation could have been saved by a press conference that said “I am human, I got angry, I failed, I pray for the forgiveness of my daughter, my friends, the church, and Jesus.” Pulling back inside the shell of false piety? You just killed your church, pal.
Every time I randomly happened upon one of his telecasts he was repeating the phrase ‘Now wait a minute....’ Apparently this is meant to convey some sort of conversational aspect to his sermons but it is clearly shtick and as such got old in about 30 sec.
Three couples are in a bad wreck after a dinner party and end up at the Pearly Gates. St Peter tells the first man he will never enter Heaven because he is such a glutton, he married a woman named Candy. They leave. He tells the second man he is out because he worships money so much, he married a gal named Penny. They leave. Third man turns to his wife and says, "We might as well leave, too, Fanny."

much?
I always refer to him as Creflo “send me your Dollars”
Whether the daughters are lying or whether it’s he, it doesn’t look good for the reputation of that family. Either way things are out of control.
As a once-saved-always-saved “Cal-minian,” I think it’s putting it a bit extremely to say the spirit of God has simply gone from him — although he may well have sacrificed some special anointings and blessings by the way he may have carried on.
Did Rev. Dollar bestow that name on himself? Or was that his born name? If he didn’t choose it, there’s not much point in ragging on him about it.
Either that, or if it was true a frank denial, but not this coy game. Oughtn’t it have been his attorney speaking rather than a church spokesman, if he is afraid to speak for fear of making his case look worse?
Who knows—maybe going ‘tribal’ on his rebellious daughter somehow saves her from greater ruin. A good dad would not allow his 15 year old daughter to attend a late night party. Bad things could happen there especially among the tribal kind.
“15 year old daughters can be very aggravating.”
I was one, I had one, you are right.
Don’t know about the strangling and shoe beating, but I had some sympathy for our friend Alec Baldwin in that phone call incident.
I remember listening to Sean Hannity deride him and I wanted to call in and say “your kids are still little and cute, I want to know what you think about this when your kids are 20”.
I, myself, was incorrigible. My daughter less so, but she had this little strategy she’d use, I called it building the wall of hostility. She’d start picking fights over any and every little thing. By the time Friday or Saturday would come and she’d want to go do something I wasn’t really keen on, she’d have me so ticked off with her that I wouldn’t even want to be bothered to argue about whatever it was.
I wised up to that after a while.
She turned out fine, in the end, but teenage girls are THE WORST.
The bible warns fathers not to provoke their children to anger; and before making such judgmental statements you might at least show you can read the story accurately. It does not say “tribal.”
Fight picking is a kind of bullying, and it’s sad no matter who initiates it. Frosty silence is about as good an answer to that as anything.
Oh loosen up....
