Prayers offered for the return of Alice. Salamander... I said a special prayer to St. Francis to intervene. My hope is that she went into one of the spaces to look for a mouse. I don’t know much about snakes... does she shed? If so, don’t they prefer to go somewhere darker and more private to do so? I am hoping she pops right up with new, pretty skin. Yes they shed but he just did, recently.
He’s scared of live mice so that’s not why.
It’s probably my own fault.
He’s always been taken out and loved on frequently and with all the other stuff going on here right now, I’ve not had as much time to baby him.
Every time I went past his house, he’d come and ‘beg’ to be out but things have been very hectic for the last few weeks.
He wanted to be out with me and didn’t realize that getting out didn’t necessarily mean I’d be picking him up like always.
The front of his tank has a drop down door and I’d spend time sitting with him as he laid on the open door, just stroking his back when I didn’t have time to take him out and cuddle him properly.
He managed to get himself out but I’m thinking his little pea brain just didn’t think his plan the whole way through.
I know he’s wondering where I am just as much as I’m wondering where he is.
I hope he doesn’t think I’ve abandoned him just because I haven’t come to fetch him.
He’s always trusted and relied on me to take care of him and keep him safe but I wasn’t there this time.
And dear God, that’s what hurts most.
