I know snakes aren't everybody's preferred pet but I do love mine dearly.
My pastel Ball Python, Alice, escaped his tank sometime between late Thursday/early Friday.
He is the 'smart guy' who always fiddled with his locks and he finally managed to get one open.
He squeezed out of the gap he created and I have hunted everywhere.
Here's the big problem; the house is a house log house almost 300 years old, there are holes everywhere, 'false walls' where layers of clapboard and siding were added later in the history of the house and the bottoms of those additions are NOT sealed from the outside.
We have torn apart both rooms where the snakes are.
Upended fridges and stoves.
Took down a 'wet wall panel' and looked back in the plumbing space.
Gone down into the dirt dug Root Cellar Of Horror, just in case.
Looked in every box, piece of clothing, looked up, looked down, looked all over the other snakes' racks.
He's just nowhere to be seen.
He's a bright yellow Pastel almost 4 feet long and weighs over 1700 grams so we're not looking for a little camouflaged snake, here.
I've got a drinking bowl with flour around it.
Foil/plastic laid down does no good because I'm too hard of hearing to know if he goes over it.
I've done everything you do when a snake goes missing and there's no sign of him everywhere.
I'm am just devastated.
This is my beloved 'lap snake' Alice who is like a dog with scales.
He's hopeless when it comes to being a 'real snake'.
He can't survive on his own and being somewhere in temps below 75 degrees will either make him very sick or kill him.
I am leaving out a dead mouse every night *but* he only eats his mice if they're very warm and won't touch them, cold.
I don't know what else to do but pray.
I could kick myself for leaving that one key in.
It's the one he 'picked' and that gave him a difficult but apparently doable way out of his tank.
Even though he's not a fluffy kitten or cute puppy, he is very dear to me and I miss him terribly.
I stalk the dark house every night, flashlight in hand, hoping to catch a glimpse of him but I fear he may have gone under the house and there's absolutely no way I can get under one part of there to even look.
I have done everything I can and God is now his only hope of survival and safe return.
This is a photo of him sleeping on my lap with his head resting on my fingers.

Those of you who know me understand what this is doing to me.
Prayers for his return would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you,
Shari
I love snakes!!!!! We have weird ones here now in Ga- brown on top and yellow or orange on their bellies. Still don’t know what they are but we also have black snakes and king snakes all over.
I am praying Alice comes home soon. An old boyfriend’s roommate’s snake hid in a pachinko machine and took a while for him to decide to leave his cozy surroundings. I would look in boxsprings and behind refrigerators- places I am sure you have already looked but think small and warm.
Prayers for your loved one to return! Keep us updated!!!
Sounds like you’ve done just about everything you can do to capture your pet.
Have you tried laying out a heating-pad somewhere on the floor inside the house? Maybe a heat lamp outside with the flour surrounding it?
Is there any sound that might attract a snake?
You’ve got lots of FRiends here, Shari. Good luck finding him.
Prayers up for a fast return.
Praying now.
Prayers up. Many of us understand exotics and the special needs that come with them.
Prayers for your pet snake. I NEVER thought I would say that ......................................................... FRegards
I pray Heavenly Father for the quick return of “Salamander’s” beloved pet snake. I know that you know where he is. Please guide him back safely. Thank you for him, as he is very cute and a great pet to “Salamander”. In Jesus great and holy name, Amen.
I’ve never had a snake, but I adore my pets too so I sympathize! This may be an ignorant question but . . . do snakes have a smell? What about hiring a “sniffer” dog? I saw a video about a guy who trained his beagle to be a sniffer for bedbugs (of all things!) so I’m thinking maybe a dog could find a snake as well. Best of luck!!!
Best of luck finding your pet! I know very little about snakes so I don’t have any suggestions different from those you’ve been given. We will say a prayer for Alice’s safe return.

Sorry to hear about your lost pet. I hope he turns up soon.
Prayers for you and your sweet baby.
Oh, man, Sal. You poor thing. Fingers & toes crossed he gets hungry and finds his way out into the open.
Would it do any good to put some sort of heating pad out that might draw him to its warmth?
I definitely understand the affection we can have for unconventional pets. Yesterday we found our 6 year old male guinea fowl dead in his coop, his one remaining brother forlornly keeping watch. My husband is devastated over the bird’s demise.
Keep us informed when you find Alice.

There are some *very* powerful prayer warriors there, imho.
(& of course, adding my own)
I hope you won’t hesitate to post notices (with photo, if possible) locally- esp with vets & feed stores & on Facebook if you are there. Also, notify your local animal control.
God Bless you & Alice.
Logan’s and trussell’s prayer warriors...Salamander’s pet snake has gone missing. She’s a DEAR friend of mine, she loves all of God’s creatures...and she and her buddy Alice could sure use our prayers now.
Yes. I’m asking you to pray for a snake.
Sal...expect a miracle, soon...these peeps pray and pray well!! :)
Prayers up for your missing buddy! When our corn snake escaped her cage, she would be found in the closet in the sleeping bags ;-).

I like snakes myself (all animals, really). Alice is beautiful. Not knowing where a pet is drives you frantic.
Prayers going up that you find her.
I just saw this thread, prayers.
I know when I cannot find something I always shoot up prayers and he usually answers.....
I grew to like snakes because of Steve Irwin and then my sons lacrosse coach had snakes and I got to hold some of his beautiful snakes including his Ball Pythons...I was shocked at how much I enjoyed them.....
Please keep us posted....
